Search by location not working.

Jump to solution

I'm in the market for a particular gemstone charm. I have my search parameters set for shop location  - United States, I'm in a time crunch so I can't wait on international shipping right now. I'm getting results for international shops, one shop in particular keeps coming up, shop location is listed as "Ships from: Türkiye"

Why is this happening? Has something changed and this shop that is located in Turkiye is shipping from somewhere in the US? There's nothing in the listing that would indicate this is the case. Regardless, the shipping timeframe indicates the shop is overseas.

I'm in a time crunch on this particular gift, sadly, Etsy is making my shopping experience here more difficult vs. less. The last time this happened I wound up going to my local jeweler instead of shopping here. SMH.

I just tried it using my iMac and Safari and I'm only getting US shops in search results.

Interesting. I'm on my laptop, Google Chrome. My search term is "small white gold diamond cross charm".  I just did the same search again, with shop location listed as US. The third listing result for me is the shop from Turkiye.

Etsy is making it difficult to shop here, what a shame.

I believe 'shop location' and 'ships from' can be 2 different settings - shop location can be set using the little pencil icon in edit shop mode, while 'ships from' is determined by setting origin zip in shipping profiles.  The filter in search is only for the shop location, it won't screen out listings that have something different set as the origin in the shipping setting.  That's my guess explaining what you're seeing, and I don't know if there's a direct way around it.  Perhaps also use the filter for delivery date in search (although I've seen that give very inaccurate results in the past - plus lots of listings that offer overnight shipping upgrades can show up, for example, when standard shipping takes much longer).

Thank you. As a seller I really try to support fellow Etsy sellers. I realize though that buyers who don't sell here have no such loyalty. If shopping is difficult then I suspect frustrated buyers leave : (

I was just looking for custom vinyl local to my area, and tried the "filter by location" by putting in a zip code.  That doesn't work at all.  That's a pretty big bug...
