I'm I the only one that always gets scam messages? Especially when I post a new listings I always get the annoying messages. They are so random, many try to act like Etsy but other ones try to get your information.
I feel like there should be more precautions on these types of accounts because some of them I can't even report and you can get scammed really easily especially if you're new.
No you are not the only one. There have been hundreds of postings--if not thousands right here in the forum going back to last July.
Etsy has tried to shut them down as fast as they appear but it is like playing Whack-A-Mole!
All we here in the forum can do is keep warning people.
Scammers just scroll Etsy and send various messages, had a few recently trying to sell me services in bad English. Etsy need to be proactive in blocking these messages
make sure you mark them as spam, then ignore
be very careful after your first sale, as the item will relist,
so you will get legitimate info from etsy - it will also be on your dashboard, - to validate you account
at the same time you get phishing scammers.
Today I got this message which I find slightly dubious. Has anyone had similar? Do you think this is a scam? I also find it amusing that a police tv show would need mini teddy bears or dolls as set props?
Below is the message.
'''Hello..... I love your little animals and creatures. I am working on a TV show called chicago PD. I would love to use several of them on the upcoming episode. If you are alright with us using your creations - I would need you to sign an art release. Also would you be able to ship using our fed ex number - so they could arrive quickly. thank you so much tricia''
@Woollybuttbears Is that a copy/paste of the actual message? I would think someone requesting a business transaction would construct a more professional correspondence and to capitalize the name of the show they supposedly work on, not to mention their own name. There was no title attached to her name either? Any offer to pay or they just want to ''rent'' it.
Looks like somebody wants something for free.

If you receive an actual order, you will see it in your "Orders and Shipping" section and you will receive an email from Etsy notifying you that you have a sale, and there will be a notification in your dashboard as well.
