Sales Counter Not Working Correctly

The sales counter is not functioning correctly. It counts the sale of the same product, even if the quantity is 10, as only 1 sale. For example, if 3 black shirts in size L are sold, it counts as 1 sale. If 1 black shirt in size L and 2 black shirts in size M are sold, it counts as 2 sales. If 1 black shirt in size L, 1 black shirt in size M, and 1 black shirt in size S are sold, it counts as 3 sales. This appears to be a bug.

Re: Sales Counter Not Working Correctly

That is correct, if it’s the same item it will only count as one. That is how it has always been. Two blue large shirts, one sale, a blue shirt and a green shirt, two sales.

@RashelDesigns: Not a bug but an intentional implementation, and has been that way forever. In this context, you need to read 'sales' as 'listings' - so three of the same listing is one sale, one each of three different listings is three sales.

Re: Sales Counter Not Working Correctly

Not listings, but transactions. The same listing with different sizes or colors will count as multiple sales. However, if it's the same color and size, it will only count as one sale, collapsing them into a single transaction.

Re: Sales Counter Not Working Correctly

@RashelDesigns: Probably should have worded that as each 'listing variation'.

Variations was an add-on to a system probably not designed with that in mind.

If you look at the Etsy API, even a listing with no variations is set up behind the scenes as having one variation.

If you are actually using variations, then from Etsy's viewpoint each variation is an individual 'virtual listing' even if they share the same base listing id.

I understand how it works, but logically, it's not correct.

Re: Sales Counter Not Working Correctly

It’s the silliest thing I’ve ever seen that the number of my sales depends on the size of a t-shirt.

Re: Sales Counter Not Working Correctly

Supply sellers feel this every day.  Our actual sales numbers are (usually) much higher than the count in the shop.
