Sale price not showing after adding items to cart

Customers have tried to make a purchase from my shop, but the sale price is not showing after they add it to the cart, it is showing the original price only. I gave them a special coupon code and that worked, but the sale is not working correctly. Is this happening to anyone else?

It shows in my cart. I thought I could attach a photo, but I guess not. The original price shows, but after the total it says 'discount' and then the new total.

What Etsy did is, show the regular price on each item, yet, reflect the discount in the price column on the right.  Another unnecessary change without a doubt.  Just let asking customers know...it builds consumer confidence.
