Is anyone else having this issue? The post office just says they don’t recognise the label. Etsy have said to buy directly from Royal Mail. So currently, neither my medium packages or small ones, can use Etsy Shipping labels!
@GreenHeartStudiosUK There has been an issue with Ebay labels too. It was a problem last week and I tried to post something this morning without success.
Not sure if it’s a PO or a Royal Mail issue but, if it affects both Etsy and Ebay, it’s probably not a problem at their end. Apparently, you can buy at the PO still (I use Tracked 48) so it’s an integration issue.
There is a problem with tracked 48 Royal Mail Items being accepted at the Post Office at Present. It relates to parcels with YA tracking number. There is a thread on Reddit about it which may help.
I paid for and printed off 3 large letter labels under 100gm from etsy at 8.30 this morning, 2nd class
Just come back from the post office, they all scanned fine and I have their certs of postage
@CraftyCornishMaids My label was for Tracked 48. I could have bought a label from the PO but wanted to cancel the label I had already paid for before I did that.
The PO manager said it was an integration problem with Ebay (and, it seems, Etsy too). I was unclear whether it was due to the PO or RM but it wasn’t due to Ebay or Etsy.
Its just the tracked ones that aren't scanning, you can print direct from Royal Mail, they work fine but any from the marketplaces that are tracked are unable to scan in the Post Office, they're all aware of it and hopefully will have it up and running soon
@DreamPetticoatsShop There were posts in the Ebay forum last week. I assumed it had been fixed but that was being too optimistic!
Do you have to buy from RM online or can you buy at the PO for Tracked 48? I’ve only ever bought the postage from Ebay.
Ive only ever bought online but you can buy online and take your QR code to Post Office and have them print it from there. I think you can also purchase at counter but its handy to put the customers email address/phone number in online and not so easy at the counter.
@DreamPetticoatsShop Thanks. Having already bought a label from Ebay, I’m reluctant to pay for another one without cancelling the first. I’ll see what happens tomorrow. At least, the buyer is understanding about it but I’ll probably end up with a late delivery defect
Here's an article about it happening on eBay: https://www.valueaddedresource.net/royal-mail-ya-labels-tracking-not-scanning/
And Vinted labels, it’s to do with the tracking numbers starting with the letters “YA”. It’s the code assigned to marketplace sellers labels.
I drop my Tracked 48 (large letters) off in a post box. I've just checked my latest order (sent Saturday 2nd August) which does have a YA prefix and it's been fully tracked from the local mail centre, to the destination delivery office, and again on delivery. So it seems it's only the Post Office scans that aren't working.
I don't know if everyone is aware, but as long as a tracked item gets scanned at least once on its journey, you can retrospectively print off a Proof of Postage (and hence make a claim) via the Royal Mail app, see here: Help with proof of posting & delivery
Are Post Offices refusing to handle the packages? Or just unable to give out a Proof of Postage? If it's the latter, you'd just be taking the same risk that I do with every order - i.e. it's only in the very unlikely event the item goes missing before it gets its first scan that you wouldn't be able to make a claim.
Post office scans are working today for me
my post office scanned my 3 large letter 2nd class from etsy fine today, and I have proof of postage, so it doesn't really matter if it scans for delivery or not, I'm covered
