I just went in to edit an active listing and before I hit the publish button, I noticed it was automatically renewing for 2/2026. It was originally set to expire in 11/2025. I was in the "edit" portion of the listing, not renew. I backed out and left the listing as it was since I didn't want to be charged another listing fee, especially since it was a Halloween item and expiring in November of this year was fine with me.
I happened to have a few listings to renew (set on manual review) so I just renewed 3 of them----they now expire Jan 27th, and checking the financial page, only .20 was charged for each renewal. Is this a glitch, or is etsy extending the largesse of giving us more for our money?
I'm guessing the expiry dates are going to reset to the usual once the glitch is fixed.
@TailoringByDebra Oct. Nov. Dec. Jan. That's the usual 4 months. Usual .20 cents.
that would be about right ... listings get 4 months for 20 cents.
Yeah, my duh. I was concentrating on trying to help, and my not stellar math skills were taking a nap.
Sounds like Etsy was tacking on an additional 4 months from the expiration date.
Used to be I'd do minor tweaks and edits on active listings and the expiration date would remain the same. I'm wondering if Etsy is going to treat edits as renewals ... adding 4 months to the expiration date. That would be a change.
Thanks for posting. I'm going to see if this happens when I edit a listing.
Update - I just went in and made changes to the listing I was referring to, and when I hit the publish button, it didn't renew the listing as shown under the manual button on listings. Etsy's information is a little confusing. The expiration date remained the same.
