Renewal fee’s when shop is on vaca

My father passed in January, I put my shop on vaca at that time. Even though my items are not live, Etsy is renewing them and taking the fee. When I realized this I changed all of my listings to manual, But I still have a bill and my shop is still not open. Why is Etsy nickel and diming me while my shop is on vaca? At this point I am so close to closing my shop and it was the only way of me making money for a long time. Etsy do better.

That’s the way renewals have worked for a long time.

Unfortunately it has been that way for a long time, but I agree it’s a sneaky thing to do.  If the shop isn’t open/paused the renewal should pause too.  Nickel and dime for more shareholder profit is exactly what it is.  I’m very sorry to hear of your father’s passing.  My condolences.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this during such a sad time.
If you want to avoid renewal fees, you need to deactivate your listings instead of just putting your shop on vacation. Even setting listings to manual renewal in a closed shop doesn't always work -- I know from personal experience. It's been that way for many years.
