I am receiving notifications on phone from my Etsy Seller app for a store that I do not own. For 24 hrs I have been getting notifications regarding their customer messages, favorites, orders, reviews etc.   I looked up the shop to notify the owner because it baffled me. He replied right away, saying he is also getting MY notifications. It is a serious privacy concern for me now. For weeks I had been noticing new messages I would get were marked read when I had never read them. I figured it was a glitch or I accidentally opened them, but now I’m concerned this has been going on for a while.

Well no luck yet. No reply by email or Twitter, and still receiving the other store’s notifications

@ClaireNilanArt   Man, that is weird; I hope you get this resolved soon.
____________

Your Thread is much more serious but brought to mind another recent Thread.  A Seller posted pulling up a Help Page and a Shop's Name came up. How in the H does that happen.

I am so sorry. People don't get help when they have been hacked either. So it doesn't surprise me you are not getting help....

So you can't access your orders or anything? Or can you still fill them?

I had a new customer end up in somebody's else account and place a order. Almost the same user name and same last name. The only way I found out the new customer never got a email that they bought something from me. The other person told me it happens all the time saying she bought something and she didn't.

Re: Receiving notifications for someone else’s shop

I finally received an email back from Etsy, but it's getting nowhere. They just provided me with basic instructions on how to update my notification settings. The other day when I got ahold of someone on Chat support they did the same thing explaining how to change my notification preferences in my app settings. Every time I hear back they don't understand the root problem and/or I get transferred x times and told to wait for an email. I am doing my best to explain it but I feel like this is such a complex issue and I am not reaching the right department. Meanwhile, this other store and I are still receiving each others notifications re: customer messages and orders etc. I am not sure what to do because every time I get transferred to a new person I have to explain the issue over again, just to receive an automated response that has nothing to do with the problem.

I cannot believe this wasn't addressed for you yet.   :   (     Have you included screen shots with the emails?    This is not an entry level issue - maybe try another stab to @ one of the mods and see if they could get it escalated?

So sorry you're dealing with this.

@ClaireNilanArt  This is crazy; you started your OP on Thursday and this Privacy Concern is still going on, for both you and the other Seller.  Also concerning the fact that Chat Support is not understanding the problem. As moonbeamgifts stated, may be a good idea to "at" one of the Admins.

I'm really sorry for you both.

@moonbeamgifts

@ChillwolfArt

Thanks for being so helpful! I don't know why my @s aren't linking correctly. Tried <return> typing out, etc. So I don't know how to get the attention of a mod.

I did include screenshots in the original email. I asked the other store to send me his screenshots too, so I will add those with my next attempt!

It looks like it isn't just you - check out the "Wires Crossed" topic in the tech forum from about 20 minutes ago.

I'd suggest responding with your information there and see if you can catch someone.

It isn't exactly the same issue but maybe with everyone congregating in one place, it will help identify where the misfire is.

I just replied to the Wires Crossed thread so maybe I will reach a mod there! Thank you!

@ClaireNilanArt   Re: getting the attention of Admin, I'm using a desktop computer, Chrome, if that helps.

I "atted" you just now in this post by typing the at symbol.  A menu popped up with some Sellers in this Thread.  Yours was at the top, so I selected you from the menu.  It automatically put a line under your Name, which will Notify you that I Tagged you in this post (when you see a number above the bell icon top Right of Forum).

(I don't know if it make a difference using a desktop computer vs. something else.  I always use the same device and browser).

@chillwolfart I am also using Chrome on my macbook. I also tried it on my phone using Chrome and safari with no luck there either.

@chillwolfart

...maybe I need to be a certain rank on here for it to work.

When you get the canned reply, be sure to respond to it with something like "still need help." If you start a brand new message, it will put you back at the end of the line.
