So, yesterday I returned home from PO & was happy to see I had an orange Sales notification atop my shop icon. Happily, I went to my shop to see what it was that had sold! My number of sales had not changed and there were no new orders at my Sales & Orders page. No sign of a purchase on my Dashboard Activity and no clue anywhere about what that errant orange notification could be about...after wasting more time on a wild goose chase, it simply pouffed and was gone. And needless to say it was a bummer, not an Etsy huzzah...
Day 2: I entered the tracking for my order shipped yesterday & a few hours later, I notice another orange sales notification with a 2 in the center of it. I was so excited! And guess what? It was the exact same disappointment all over again. And it disappeared after about 20 minutes. It seems someone forgot to tie a carrot to the end of the stick.
This seems to be a kind of Reverse Pavlovian Effect. Instead of a happiness at seeing a bright orange Sale Notification, I get a sinking feeling that a disappearing mirage is just ahead. Anyone else experiencing thIs? I hope not, because it is really no fun at all.
I get a cha-ching notification on my phone when I get a sale so I rarely check the website for order notifications.
I do not choose to use a phone for my shop anything online and have never had this kind of problem . ...
My cha-ching stopped working some time ago so I eventually uninstalled the app as it just kept giving me error messages. I still miss it terribly.
Someone else was talking about this earlier today..
Do you remember anything about it?
If this is what you were thinking of it is not quite the same as what i am experiencing:
.....
My sales number increased by 1 sales yesterday, but a sale has not shown up on my sold orders page and an item is not showing as being sold.
There is nothing in my payment account page
Anyone else seeing this as well in their shop? Thanks!

In the Forum Search Bar, I typed "orange dot but no sale". Then sorted by "Date", so I wouldn't get older Threads (there were quite a few from last year). But this Thread is from this year. I don't know if it's some sort of revived glitch. Because if you type what I did into the Search Bar, you will see there are quite a few Threads from this past year (having to do with the elusive orange dot).
Sorry; wish I could've helped more.
Just came across this Thread. It's somewhat similar yet different to what you're experiencing. Kind of a reversal.
Maybe etsy ran out of glitches and is recycling some of them now.
That got a chuckle out of me.
@ChillwolfArt , thank you for your efforts. It was very much a bummer last night, but decided to let it go, and not drag it thru the oompa-forumpah. When it occurred again today it was just a bit too much and a real morale sinker. I hope by posting in technical issues, a tech person will investigate and fix...
I have 2 orange dots that won't go away. No purchases, no messages, went through everything on my dashboard and they won't go away. Starting to panic that I missed something and it will ding my star seller....aarrgghhhh
Maybe they were sales that didn't complete processing. Make me wonder how many of those are happening that no one even knows about as they are gone by the time I look at my shop. Sales this week have been so slow.
@Amaradorn, who knows? Maybe many times...a day, a week, a month? Who knows what it could be about? I just wonder....when a sale has occurred in your shop, it should show as a sale, but as unpaid until processing is complete & there will be a caution from etsy to not ship until it shows as paid.
Unfortunately, computer programs are not instantaneous. When someone buys an item, It does not automatically and instantaneously show up in an account, the program has to cycle through for that to happen. It then has to cycle through again to show you processed that order and shipped it. Etsy has been super slow the last few days and you are probably seeing an incomplete cycle through the system. It is super annoying but akin to yelling at the microwave to cook faster. The computer and the microwave eventually get there.
Now that got a chuckle out of me...
