Questioning if this is legit

Jump to solution

I just opened my shop last night and received an emailed title

Etsy Conversation with Ѐtѕy

unfortunately, I clicked the link in the messages and it was asking to verify my card info. I thought it was odd that it asked me to verify how much funds I have in that account.

I feel like this is a scam. My shop has had a few views since then and it looks like is active.

Complete Scam. Etsy never asks you to click on links or submit card details on a totally diff page.

Etsy will only contact you via their personal message tab in the message section. I had a few dodgy scams of late, and I contacted Etsy. They confirmed the scams claim to be from them, mimick them, and do the above. If in doubt contact Etsy directly, send screen shots and 99% of the time they confirm its a scam.

You can also click on the profile that sent the scam, its often a random account, and then I block them straight away. Saved me getting 4 scam messages a day of the same account!

Hope this helps!

IT is a scam. IF you gave them any financial information cancel your card and contact your bank immediately!

Etsy will never ask for financial information or your email from an email. You already gave them the information they needed when you opened your account. If it is from Etsy, it will be in the Messages->From Etsy folder. These scams are rampant these days and there are dozens of variations of this. If in doubt, always check with Etsy. Do NOT click any links in a suspicious email. Instead, navigate to the Etsy site like you always do to get there, then check to see if the request is on your Dashboard page or in the From Etsy folder. If it's not, it is not legit and you should mark it as Spam so Etsy can block it from being sent to other sellers.
