Question about sales and search algorithm.

I'm just wondering if anyone else seen or experienced this. I been noticing that after having a sale, the visits and views will slow down until the next day, almost if the search algorithm "resets". Now it doesn't matter when that sale happens as I've seen it at 2am or noon or 2 in the afternoon, or even late evening. But when the sale happens things just slow down until the next day.

I've also seen where views both on the app and desktop disappear. As an example, I might see 50 views by 3pm, and then at 4 pm I will have 48 views, almost if two people traveled back in time to "unview" my items.

It just seems a little weird or strange to me almost if the algorithm has to reset and unlock my listings or something.  I'm wondering if anyone has come across something like this.

Views don't mean a thing until at least the next day.  Etsy only updates them a few times a day, and views from bots are removed, so yes, views could theoretically move backward.

Regarding slow times after sales, that is entirely possible.  Etsy uses frequency capping to help all sellers be seen, so once one seller receives sales, they could be moved further down in search for a while.  It doesn't necessarily happen after each sale, but is probably more dependent upon your averages.  For example, as an established seller I will often times get several sales in a row, then nothing for a while.  I've also noticed that if I have several orders that need to be shipped, I may not get more sales until they are moved out, even though my processing time is 3-5 days.

Thank You so much for your response. The frequency capping makes a lot of sense. It seems like this makes it harder to make it on the long run. Making consistent multiple sales on Etsy would be nice....
