Message that a buyer is having trouble buying an item.

I got an email from etsy staiing that [This content has been removed by Moderation. We ask that you please review Section 1, Item 1 of our Community Policies before posting in the Forums.]

PS: The message in question did not come from Etsy, and we have already actioned the account attempting to impersonate admin.

But when I enter my email, I get a warning that I entered the useername isn't valid but it's not asking for it, just my email. I also tried to send a reply  to the buyer but got the same warning meaning I can't contact anyone through message.

Trying to get in contact with support is a merry-go-round of disappointment.

Anyone else have this happen before and what can I do if I can't contact anyone?

Thanks!

That's a scam message that a ton of sellers, mainly new ones, have been receiving for months.  Put it in spam.

If you had a problem replying, it's because the sender's account has already been deleted by Etsy.

@atomicsponge  Not Etsy Support, it's a scammer! I'm sorry you were targeted by these doofuses. There has been an infestation of them unfortunately, targeting new Sellers as well as seasoned ones. They have been posing as "Buyers", stating they need your email for an Order. They don't, Etsy already has it. When you receive a LEGIT Order, it will appear in "Orders & Shipping" (Left Column of Shop Dashboard); if it isn't there, you have no Order.  Mark the scammer's Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller).  And never click on links or engage with them.

Also for future note; these goons are using "Verification" as one of their scams, posing as Etsy Staff/Support, etc.   When you receive a LEGIT Message from Etsy Support/Staff, etc., it will appear in the "From Etsy" Folder (in Messages). If it isn't there, Mark the Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller).

Currently there is a Pinned Announcement at the top of the Forum, "Protect Your Account From Scammers".
Hope this helps you.

Re: Message that a buyer is having trouble buying an item.

@atomicsponge: It is NOT an order - real orders will show up on your Orders & Shipping page and your Payments page.

It is a SCAM - you might want to read the excellent post by @bradgoodell  in https://community.etsy.com/t5/Managing-Your-Shop/How-to-Spot-a-Scam-No-a-Buyer-Doesn-t-Need-Your-Ema... and https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Why-do-they-ask-me-for-my-e-mail-in-order-to-make-a-p...

There is also official information from Etsy at https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000343128-How-to-Handle-Spam-and-Suspicious-Messages?segm...

Real messages from Etsy are now going into their own section on your messages page https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/New-From-Etsy-section-in-Messages/m-p/143722497#M1899

If you have not already done so, you may want to read https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015710308-What-to-Do-After-You-Sell-an-Item?segment=selli... for an overview how orders work for sellers.

Be sure to mark the message as SPAM so that it does not affect your stats.
