I was alerted to the fact that some of my listings do not have a quantity selection button by one of my potential customers. She had also tried adding the product to her cart to try to increase the quantity there. No luck. I called customer service about this and the rep said to use the Chrome browser. By the time I could relay this to my potential customer, she had moved on and bought something else from another company. So a lost sale.
I explained to the rep that most of my customers are elderly and may not have more than one browser installed on their computer. To ask that they try installing another browser to shop with me is ridiculous to even consider. If Etsy is going to be available across several browsers, they should make sure the system works across all of them. At the very least, the major three: Firefox, Chrome and Edge. I have since discovered several more listings without the quantity button. This is unacceptable!
In searching through the forums, I see that this problem has existed for more than THREE YEARS!!!!! Come on, Etsy! Quit wasting your programming time on stupid and unnecessary upgrades, and FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!
I have never heard of this before so I would assume it was just that one customer's issue and I think the rep meant for you to download Chrome so that your listings work not that your customers need to do it. It's strange that the rep said to install Chrome though since I thought Etsy said that Firefox is the most compatible. I use Chrome though cos Firefox is a nightmare!
If you say which listing it is I can check it out my end.
Thank for offering to check out my listing! I use Firefox, and the rep did say that Etsy is made to work mainly on Chrome, and when I did access the listing through Chrome (without logging in as me), the quantity button was there. I would take up your offer to test it, but it needs to be through a browser other than Chrome.
Listings with a price of US$20 or higher do not show qty on the listing, only in cart. This isn't a glitch, it's etsy's intentioned behaviour.
The item in question was fabric yardage. The customer was able to add it to her cart, but was unable to adjust the quantity in the cart.
Thank you for letting me know that. I tested it out from another browser and was able to increase the quantity in the cart. I don't know if the lady who couldn't do that was experiencing an Etsy glitch, or if it was user error. Either way, it would have been nice if Etsy had let us know this!
I use chrome on this shop, but I use a different browser for my other shop and have had no problems. I think it might have been the customer. I have had people that were elderly having issues, but when I check using another browser its fine, so I walk the person through it until they get it ordered.
How did you get to actually call someone?
You have to click your way through help and you will finally find a page that will let you request a call back. Here is a link that's expired, but it still works sometimes:

Most of my listings are under $20.00. A lot of them don't have the quantity box even though I have at least two available. It just says low in stock. Etsy is so busy finding more ways to ruin the site - like that huge feedback box below the pics, that they aren't paying attention to what's important for sales! If they started paying attention to that, we would all sell more, and etsy would benefit as well.
Incase this hasn't been fixed you can get around it by adding another variation or quantity. I found it fixed all the missing options.
