Morning you lovely seller community from sunny Cheshire, UK!
Going on a short break later today and having had major issues with using holiday mode in the past, I am again just updating processing times so customers can still browse and purchase but with updated, accurate lead times for their orders.
Worked amazing last time and didn't suffer the major drop off on return that holiday mode used to cause.
BUT - I see Etsy changed the processing times area so its now made to order or ready for dispatch and can be different per variant which is amazing!
The issue I have is even after lengthening processing times this morning - it still appears to me that customers are seeing my items available for the usual delivery lead time of being dispatched same or next day on rapid delivery - so most are showing delivery estimate 24.05. It should be much later than that based on the processing times edit I made.
Wondering if it takes time to reflect on the listings? Has been nearly an hour since I made the change though. Worrying as a customer placing an order now would be given a false lead time that is not possible.
I am having this exact same issue.
To make things even worse, even though I had set all my processing times to 2-4 weeks (my items are made-to-order) ages ago, they have all magically changed to have 1 day of processing time which is absolutely impossible for me to make happen.
Unless I completely pause my shop by putting it on vacation mode, I'll have angry customers and lose my star seller status.
WTF ETSY?!?!
Yes ... a mess and a head-scratcher. Hard to imagine how this will benefit anyone.
And what the heck is a Ready To Ship with a processing time of weeks?
Sellers are going to be shipping late because plenty won't notice this. Not their fault. You should be able to expect that the settings you create will remain as you made them and need them to be.
The way Etsy treats us. Mostly their rules tell me it would be wise to remain small. Don't have sales over $250 dollars. Have a small amount of listings so that it can be easily dealt with when Etsy decides to change my settings to something that won't work. Rather than just provide good customer service they want me to participate in a star seller game that claims to promote it but really doesn't. I know there are more things I could add here. This latest change to processing times is telling me that they want to require that Etsy be my number 1 top priority. As in mail everything right away. It can't be. It isn't conducive to providing enough for my family that it can be. The last thing I would ever want to do is grow something really big on here and then have them mess it up with changes.
If something is working it's becoming a guarantee that at some point Etsy WILL find a way break it.
Sometimes it seems like they are actively trying to drive all their sellers away.
WTF Etsy, what have you done?
I have my profiles set for specific items. That way I can adjust them according to the amount of time they may take in various situations. Things that are frequent Christmas gifts I often prep for sales and shorten the time during the holidays.
They just threw everything into one big pot, including listings that are 15 years old and I haven't sold in a decade. So I need to sort through hundreds of irrelevant listings?
This is not the way I expected to spend the next week.
And how come there are no prices on the shipping profiles? I charge flat rate shipping on some items.
Now, free shipping items are in the same profiles as items with shipping.
How the F is that going to work?
It isn't.
I was thinking the same….ONE POT! I often adjust my time depending on how busy I am….I just threw that out of the window as it takes too much time now and half of my new “processing time” is not showing correctly.
‘Let me ask you a question, jBc, I see it being throw around in these post…about old or sold listings….
What are you referring to when you say old listings you haven’t sold in a decade….please tell me your not saying we have to change those?
I ship my larger, heavier items via UPS. They are now included in the pot with earrings and coasters??????
What the heel are they thinking?
I know this is picky and won't happen, but I wish there was a 2-4 day option too.
I found how to change it. Does this count as changing your listing and affect your placement in search when you update these?
@booknookcreations: Are you not able to create the 2-4 day option as a custom range 'Create processing profile'?
@bradgoodell Correct, no shipping costs showing on shipping profiles.
I'm scratching my head on this. The new profiles are unworkable.
@NanaLetha @bradgoodell I'm still seeing shipping costs on my shipping profiles. I charge flat rate + an additional item fee & it's still showing as before. You're seeing something different??
@NanaLetha @bradgoodell @CanningCrafts This is nuts. I clicked into one of my listings. Before, it clearly would show my Fixed Shipping Price. Now, as you said; it does not show the shipping price. There is this "Preview Shipping" thing; only then does it show a shipping price.
Completely counterproductive. No shipping price shown in the Shipping Profile Section, as well as on the listing itself...only until you click that "Preview Shipping".
I swear, senseless changes that make it harder, for cripes sake.
@CanningCrafts Are you looking at the profiles on individual listings?
I'm talking about the Shipping Profiles et al.
@bradgoodell I'm looking at the Shipping Profiles page under settings. My list of profiles still shows the price, just as before. And it's the same when editing each listing page... the same profile list shows & has the ship price, at least for now.
They need to retrain their 22 year old programmers & fire whatever "manager" thought this was a good idea to rollout right before a 3-day holiday weekend. This poop gets old.
I was really hoping this was an issue with my phone. After a few days off. I can’t shorten my dispatch times, which is massive impacting my shop. So drained with Etsy. Just trying to work, they really are making it hard work at times.
@HaberdasheryProject Etsy is including those old sold out listings - I did mine just because I don't want any glitches.
So, anyone thinking of renewing something sold out should correct the processing time before renewing?
@NanaLetha No way! Seriously…someone needs to lose their job over this idiot move.
Thanks for telling me that.
Can you link me to where it says old sold out listings….I can’t find that part.
@CanningCrafts I also use flat rate shipping + an additional item fee. No costs shown on the profiles.
@NanaLetha Well I surely hope that is a glitch. It has to be because how do you set the shipping price?! I'm still seeing price for now.
When they first redid the listings page & made it new & "unimproved", they removed the shipping price shown too. Took forever for them to add it back. Hard to know what is incompetence versus a glitch here sometimes.
I can see the shipping cost on the item but not in the shipping profile. Good thing I have them memorized!
