Hello,
I'm a Etsy seller from Finland and I have a problem. Etsy sent me a message that my Tax payer id is wrong and I realized that I just left the Finnish VAT register, so I guess I don't have the VAT ID anymore. My business's sales are so small that I don't need a VAT ID anymore. We have that rule in Finland, that if the activity is small enough, the business does not need to be VAT registered.
I tried to delete the VAT id number from my data, but it just keeps showing up again. Should I change my incorporated business information into the individual or sole proprietorship? However, I still have my company, I just don't have the VAT ID anymore.
Thank you for your help already in advance!
Best regards, Terhi from Terhentuuli Etsy shop

Etsy are the only ones that can remove a VAT ID once entered.
You'll need to contact them and explained you are no longer VAT registered and it needs to be removed.
Thank you so much for your help! I contacted the help center and they removed the number. So everything is fine now, thank you!
Hello Terhi, I am also based in Finland and selling digital products on Etsy. Etsy requests to fill/confirm the ID Tax number and Finland I suppose we use HETU security number for indivisual. But when I filled it Etsy said it's wrong and couldn't submit. May I ask do you have to to update that as well and how did you do it? As I know our number will be for example: 123456-xxxx. Please kindly show me if you could do it successfully. Thank you very much. -Vani
Solved this one?Have the same problem.Dont except HETU or my taxpayer ID.
The primary taxpayer ID is only for VAT registration, other numbers will not be recognised.
It is because Etsy have never understood that a VAT number is not a business or income tax registration.
HETU and other non-VAT tax IDs need to be entered further down the page in "Additional taxpayer ID".
If you have entered a non-VAT ID number in the primary taxpayer ID then you will need to contact Etsy support for them to delete it. You only get a few chances to enter a valid VAT number before it will close your shop.

Hi, did anyone manage to resolve the issues with the Finnish HETU in Additional taxpayer ID field? I have the same, there is obviously a validation error, unfortunately no support from Etsy by now, and the shop is at high risk in a short term. Thank you!
I don't know, maybe this information will help you, although I do not live in Finland. I am from Latvia, where the taxpayer number is a personal code, which is always written in the format 000000-00000. Yesterday, Etsy asked me for this number. When I entered it in the format I'm used to, I received a message saying the code was incorrect. I tried everything – entering just the first or only the second part of the code and other tricks. It only worked when I removed the hyphen from the code and entered all the digits in order. Earlier, in one of the messages, I saw that your code also has a hyphen, try removing it..."
Thank you really, looks like you have 1 figure more. I also tried all the possible variations, my imagination is off. I spent about 3 hours trying all the possible with and without special characters, didn't work. But thank you!
