Hello everyone - As of yesterday most of the photos (not all) in my digital listings are now appearing slightly blurry/fuzzy. Some are crisp & clear as they normally are, but others are not. This has affected all of my digital listings & obviously is impacting potential sales. I contacted Etsy support thru the online chat & they said they would inform the Technical team to contact me via email. I asked if they could please call me instead as this is an urgent issue & asked that it be prioritized, but I learned that is not their protocol & not possible! I cannot have my products looking like this as no one will buy them! It's so upsetting & I am extremely disappointed with their service. I know that if their TV ads or other advertisements suddenly appeared fuzzy or blurry they would immediately remove them & fix the problem. Now I will be waiting days for someone to reach out & I don't even know if they can fix it. Has anyone encountered this issue & have any advice, or does anyone have any other contact info for Etsy Sellers needing urgent Technical support? Thank you so much!

Photos in your shop look fine to me.
Thanks so much for replying & viewing the photos. Did you get to zoom in on any of them? From a distance they may appear ok, but when you look closely you can see how bad some of them are. Let me know if you get a chance to check them with zoom. Thank you again!!!
Thank you for checking! Did you get to zoom in on any of them? You will be able to see the problem better. Etsy support did confirm that they saw the problem as well.
I zoomed in on one of the candles, they are blurry and pixelated.
Yes!!! Thank you for zooming in! Etsy Support did notice this too. I'm still waiting to hear from them. I also noticed that this has happened to all the products in the shop, not just digital. The candles have the same issue. I hope they can fix this!!!!
écoute moi j'ai zoomé elle ne sont pas floues chez moi
They're not at all terrible.
They do look very slightly fuzzy to me on the listing page, but only when I look hard and I doubt that it is a normally noticeable problem. When I open the full size uploaded image I can see they have poor pixel level detail and heavy compression. They look like a typical phone camera image when looked at closely, the result of more pixels than the lens can resolve to and too much software processing.
Did you do any of these before upload?:
They can all exaggerate a weak image quality because Etsy adds another layer of compression.
or . .. it could be Etsy messing with the image servers. I think that Etsy occasionally tries new compression settings, it can save storage space on the servers which saves them money. I suspect that they run multiple servers (or databases) and trial new settings on one of them, so what individual users see can be different versions with different settings.
There's an explanation of one of their compression systems, from 2017, on their codeascraft blog:

It may be a browser caching problem. Browsers don't reload the full web pages every time, they reload what they can from their saved cache:

Thank you Lawrence for your reply & all the information. I think it's a problem with the Etsy image servers, but we'll see when I hear from them. It's not anything on my end since other people are noticing it too & even Etsy Support could see the problem. All of my listing pictures were fine with no issues since I opened the shop a few months ago & now suddenly they're not. I will wait to hear from them. Thank you!
I am currently dealing with the same issue. When I talked to customer service she said it looked fine on her end too. but for me, they are awfully dull and blurry but in my phone they are crisp, clear and vibrant. I uploaded photos the exact same way as I have done on listings in the past that are look perfect. for the last several months they have appeared blurry when I view them on the computer and on my husbands phone. I don't know what to do. the only advice I was given was to adjust the pixels, but that was never necessary on the previous listings.
Your uploaded image size is only 640px × 480px for the 1st image on

Etsy are having to upscale it for the listing page. It is performing quite well, considering, until you look at the zoom+ view.
They will even have to upscale it for the search & shop home page thumbnails on some devices.
Etsy recommends a minimum size of 2000px on the shortest side.

Yep, I see it on my computer as well. They look slightly pixelated when not zoomed in and quite bad when zoomed in. Sorry to hear you are having this issue. Etsy emphasizes the importance of good pictures, sad to see they might be causing it.
