Have been having this issue for a while now and it's pretty bad bc it can affect an order being incorrect. While on my computer and under "messaging" when I click on a customer's message who placed an order with me, the info about their order shows up on the right of the message chain. Under that info it says "add private note." so if someone updates me on their order info, in the past I could then go to "add private note" and add a note and save it. Recently, when I do this the note does not save. This has caused issues bc under the person's order there's no private note so I might make a mistake on their order.
I contacted Etsy and their response was that you cannot add a private note under the messaging and you have to click on the actual order and then add the private note.. I don't get it. If you aren't able to create a private note under "messaging" chain why does it say "add private note" at all? So it basically allows you to add a private note but it's a joke and it won't actually save it??? I don't get Etsy's reply. Basically they said Yes, it says that (add private note) but you can't actually do it that way. then Why is it there??? Makes no sense.
They are saved if you go to the order and click on the invoice and add them that way and click save.
I believe it has always been that way.
Non-functionality, clunky half-a$$edness and more steps that necessary is "normal" for anything Etsy.
And redoing things that were working perfectly fine into new versions that are so borkt that you can't use them. I'm looking at YOU, new listing form.
It has always worked for me the way the OP described. I have never had a problem with it and I use it on almost ALL of my made to order sales. Now that I have said that just watch!------------------------
Where di all that white space come from????????????????????
@SewLovelybyKelly: You need to look at this as two separate notes - private notes entered on an order are about that order and only displayed with that order and private notes on the Messages page is a note about that account.
ohhh! thank you so much! That explains it.
I use this area all the time. This is one of my favorite things Etsy did for us! Because the note is related to a specific order it needs to be done in this area. This keeps the information organized. It can be pulled up for future reference with the related order.
