I just discovered this forum is indexed by google and all the posts here are readable by anyone on the internet. I am not comfortable with this. Are you?
That has always been true of Etsy forums.
That has always been true--and we "oldsters" have been trying to tell this to people for years. but they still spout off things they shouldn't.
Many of us do know but I think it is easy to forget.
The Etsy forum has always been public (I'm not sure about teams). In fact at one point buyers (without shops) could post here too, but now they can only read.
I'm not sure why it should make you feel uncomfortable - your customers might also have shops here anyway, so if you are worried that airing grievances may potentially reflect badly on your shop then there not much you can do about that other than maintain some politeness and professionalism when you post.
I think you'll find the Amazon forum is public as well. I don't have a shop there but I was able to read posts that I found via Google.
Ebay too! Learning more from Google taking me to those posts than from Ebay's own pages. LOL
Uh, was not aware of that.... hopefully all publicity is good publicity? lol
Ahhh, wouldn't that be Nice....
Unfortunately, when people Read the Many negative posts, they just Might think twice about coming here to shop.......
Just My opinion
<shrug> I don't type anything here I wouldn't say to Etsy staff, shareholders or buyers so ...
A lot of forums are public so just a good reminder to check yourself on what you put out in text no matter where.
As long as we don’t talk about HOW EASY IT IS TO GET A RETURNLESS REFUND, there’s nothing to worry about.
LOL!
It's like that in most all forums, unless they are behind a pay gate. In fact, Google is often very good at indexing forum pages and they often rank high in the listings. When I want to find something on this forum, I search on Google first. It is much better than the internal search at finding what I was looking for.
ANYTHING you post on the Internet is there for anybody to see somewhere. Even deleted pages can still be seen on the Internet.
Yes, in the past years, there also used to be reminders from sellers that buyers can read here and could decide better not to buy from a seller who posts hostile replies to other sellers here. Will they get the same, if problems arise...?
A little reminder can't hurt.
Pretty much anything you post online is visible to the public.
