Hi I’m very very new to Etsy. I’ve set up my shop, listed my items, verified my bank account/card and I received an email telling me my shop was open. But no one can purchase anything from me. I’m told it keeps coming up with an error message saying something went wrong. I feel like I’ve went through the entire app on my phone and website on my laptop and I cannot see anything. Someone please help I’d really appreciate it
Do double check that a message fulfills the requirements. While I know you don't have to physically mail the buyers a copy of the reading, you might need to send them more than just an Etsy message. And by more I mean you might need to create an actual file (like a pdf) to send them - something that is maybe in a printable format.
Seems you just started. But know that Etsy is not a "list and they will buy" site. It can take months to start getting sales. And you only have 3 items. Your titles need work. This is a good read and hope it helps. https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015663987-Shop-Improvement-and-Search-Engine-Optimization...
Sorry I’m not sure I worded it right. People are trying to buy already but it won’t go through
Hello and welcome to Etsy! I just tried to checkout and had no problem - took me straight to checkout and I got no error code. I'm in Canada, perhaps the other buyers were in countries you don't sell to? It could also be a temporary glitch, had a buyer last week say they couldn't check out but when they tried again, it worked. Hope it'll work out for you. Good luck!
Hi thank you. Did you go past the checkoutpage?
I went as far as the cc info page which was a few after the initial checkout.
I’ve double checked and it says in UK and international. I’m even more confusednow haha
@NightsideOfEvie I'm in the UK and it let me put in the basket ready to check out, no problem. I can't go further than I did or I would end up buying it!
Hi yeah I’m being told it can be added to basket but then when they click checkoutis says something went wrong
I am in Canada, and added one of your listings to cart and I would be able to proceed to checkout.
This is getting beyond weird haha I’m not really sure what to do. It’s set to uk and international
Even though you are offering a metaphysical service or whatever which I believe is not allowed, you don't appear to be sending things but you have shipping set up as though you are actually selling physical items you are supposed to ship. They may be in countries excluded in your shipping profiles. Because you set your listings up in a way that conflicts with what you are actually doing (setting up shipping when you aren't shipping anything) you may have made a mistake somewhere.
On another note, within under 2 days of listing barely anything it's strange that you even have enough traffic to actually get interested buyers and not just that but that will go to the trouble of informing a new empty shop of issues trying to purchase instead of just moving on. If your are attempting to buy your own products Etsy will not let you, they may also prevent anyone with an account linked to your ip address from purchasing or that have the same address as you. I don't know how sophisticated Etsy is about it but they have some safeguards in place in regards to shilling or tactics used for inflating your own sales to non genuine customers. Are you related to your customers or live with them or some other direct connection?
Hi thank you for your thoroughresponseI really appreciate it. Yeah having done my research on other stores selling readings they all have free delivery set up and they specify nothing physical is posted but the customer will receive a messageWith the results. Also when I say customers it’s only two haha I wish I had the secret to going viral! I’ve spoken to Etsy took a while for them to reply and they suggested I update my bank details again so fingers crossed
are your cards handmade as stated in your listing ??
The cards don't need to be handmade. They are offering readings, not selling the cards. As long as they send them something (according to the listing they receive an image of the cards along with a copy of the reading), that is allowed. The reading is what would be considered 'handmade'.
Have you asked these buyers to send you screenshots of what they see? Also, one of the listings I checked said they would receive "via message" not via post. So what are you actually posting out? It is very confusing as to what the buyer is receiving through the mail.
