Pictures sent to customers distorted?

Has anyone else noticed customers asking about pictures and what they will look like?  I always send a "proof" through Etsy messages, and now my customers are asking if it will be portrait or landscape oriented?  It appears as though the pictures are being distorted and appearing as portrait when they are horizontal (my latest customer said that's what it looked like using the phone app, but then when she used a computer it looked how it was supposed to).

When you send the pics tell them to look at them via a browser.

Since the new Etsy app, whenever I send pictures through the message system, they are rotated. It's embarrassing! I shouldn't have to explain that you need to look at it on a browser. I have sent feedback about this problem probably a year ago but it seems that nobody has looked into it.
