Photos no longer linked to variations

We just discovered that our earring photos are no longer linked to variations.  One and only one variation is still linked, the other two are simply not there and it is going to many, many hours to input this again!   We did not readjust photos or do anything that would cause this to happen.   What is going on?  Is it even worth it to reenter these or should we just trash the idea of linked variations?

This happened to some sellers when processing was separated from shipping. It unlinked variations. It must be same glitch.

I have found some recently that are not linked. I would bet @irmaKdesigns is correct, it did happen the first round of item processing times. I have not gone through my listings and checked if/how many are having issues. I kind of don't want to know......... I just don't have the mental energy right now to fix something that should not be broken.

Another thing that will unlink it is if you change the photo.

I am also struggling with my Linked Photos repeatedly disappearing.  I have trawled through my 300 listings on four separate occasions over the last 2 weeks.  I re-link the photos and then a few days, a lot of them have again disappeared.  I have raised it with Etsy Help, who are useless and did absolutely nothing.  I am now in the middle of my 4th trawl, still got 140 listings to check, and they're all likely to disappear again within a few days.  Absolute pathetic, and no wonder my sales are down by 70% compared to last year
