Photo Question - Cropping to Square

When I take my photos they have one side over the 2000 pixel requirement.  When I do my listing I am cropping my main photo to square the way etsy wants it.  Does this then reduce my photo to under the 2000 pixel size??  I am NOT getting the yellow error and message saying that photos look better over 2000 pixels.  I am in the new listing format.  But I went back to the old version and there are NO error messages there either.  Someone looked at my photos and said they are not the 2000 pixel size and that could be hurting my search placement, views and sales.  I am sorry, this is just getting to be overwhelming.  Thanks for your help - I do appreciate it.

Oh, I agree it’s overwhelming and I am really bad at technology.  How do you know what size your present photos are?  How do you start with them the right size?  I looked at the camera settings on my iPhone and iPad but didn’t find anything that I could/should change.  Sorry I am not any help- maybe we can figure it out.  I have never had any error messages either.

The way I figure it, if you're not getting the lil yellow panic, you're fine. I don't know how to tell what size someone's photos are so I can't help in that direction, but: 

1. if you're on a phone, when you view the photo there should be some kind of ... which would lead to a 'details' or 'properties' or (if you have a Samsung like me) you just swipe the photo up a bit and it gives you stats under that. Most phones take a pretty big picture; my Galaxy's standard size is 3000px on 1:1 ratio but most of the time I crop down to 2500.

2. if you're on a laptop, you can just hover the mouse over the thumb in the folder or set 'view...' to 'content'. 

I'm on a Win11 laptop so the image editor enables me to crop and see the image size as I'm doing it which is sooooo handy.
