Phantom orders!

ok - weird phenomenon in the last week - I've had two 'orders' that showed as revenue and renewals, but never got a chaching or notification of a new order.

They stayed up for about an hour before disappearing as if they'd never happened...

Anyone else had this?

Scammer. Etsy didn’t clear them.

Etsy is actively engaged in preventing scammers from targeting our community members. If you receive a suspicious message, please proceed with caution. Etsy Support will never ask you to provide personal information via Etsy Messages, such as your email address or password. Any legitimate message from us will show in your "From Etsy" folder.

If you receive a suspicious message, here’s how to report it:

1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your Account.
2. Go to Messages. 
3. Select the suspicious message from your inbox. 
4. Choose Report.

I just opened my shop and it’s completely digital. It showed two orders at different points today and then shortly after seeing them, they disappeared! I wondered if there were issues with downloads but now I’m not sure that they were legitimate orders at all because I was never notified. I’m brand new to Etsy so I’m not sure if this is something on my end or a glitch?

Scammers will place orders, and Etsy will remove them if they recognize the scammer or confirm a stolen credit card.  It is common for orders to disappear like that.  It usually happens before you even get a notice of any kind, or often within a few minutes or a couple hours.  However, it can take up to 24-48 hours sometimes for Etsy to discover a stolen credit card.  Because of that, one should not be in too much of a hurry to mail out orders.
