Payment Methods Temporarily Disabled at checkout - 2 weeks

If a buyer hadn’t messaged me two weeks ago, I wouldn’t have known that buyers were unable to purchase from my shop. 
The checkout greys out with the Temporarily Disabled message across it.

Spoke to someone on Live Chat, who escalated it to finance, who finally came back to me after 4 days to say that everything was working fine on their end… but it’s not! And two weeks later it’s still not, no one has been able to purchase. The CSR who told me it was all working fine is not responding to emails, and no one is on the other end of my Live Chat link, I’ve checked in there regularly asking for someone to respond over the last three days and no one answers.

I've been here 18 years and weathered all the ups and downs of Etsy, but never have I been switched “off”. There’s definitely a broken link somewhere, but it’s like no one is there.

You have no "payment options" showing on your main shop page, scroll down past the about section, it should be in the shop policies section

between

delivery

and returns and exchanges

it's not there

take a screenshot of the policies section, and attach it, or online chat again, and point them to the fact it's missing

Yes, I sent those via email a week and a half ago, but no response.

It’s the complete radio silence that gets me. Normally, when you open chat, not that I’ve ever really used it, maybe 4 or 5 times in it’s existence, as soon as you open it, someone comes online.

It just happened to me last night. Wanted to purchase something but when I went to pay, I got "All payment methods for this shop are temporarily unavailable.". I wonder how many this is happening to. Makes me hesitate to list anything to sell myself.

Are you contacting the seller though? They may have another avenue available.

Do you have any notice on your dashboard and / or finance page under legal/tax info that something needs verifying?
Like a photo ID, your bank info, credit card (make sure it hasn't expired).

I noticed since you don't have payment options the "buy it now" button is also gone from your listings.

Just insane that sellers can't get help with issues like this. Unacceptable IMO.

Nope no notices, nothing to verify, am not beholden to any of those checks as I have special dispensation to be PayPal only because I moved from the US to the UK in the early days of EP.

@MaynardMillinery  I wonder if it has anything to do with Etsy closing other Paypal only shops in other countries?
I wouldn't be surprised if Etsy changed their mind even though they said you could be Paypal only years ago.

I found this thread from a few months ago and it mentioned several countries in addition to Colombia (Iceland, Uruguay, Caribbean Albania are just some I noticed ) that are Paypal only shops and will be closed for good in Aug.

It was mentioned several times that Etsy was no longer supporting Paypal only shops.

Etsy is closing ALL paypal only shops

If you can't move to etsy payments, you can't sell here any more.

you will have to set up a new account, in the country where you have all your ID, and pay taxes

etsy sent the message to all sellers in countries affected,

they probably forgot they had a few paypal only accounts in countries that are etsy payments only.

however paypal only shops that didn't move, had payment options removed on 1st May, and all will be shut completely by 5th Aug, so download all your csv's asap

I have a feeling that the special dispensation to be PayPal only is the issue. Hope you can get this resolved.

@MaynardMillinery Elizabeth, this is not good news at all and I am sure all the regulars here are feeling for you. However, despite the lack of specific notification of the removal of Pay Pal in your Shop and even consisdering the long-standing dispensation you received when moving US to UK, it certainly looks like Etsy has completely severed any relationship they had with Pay Pal (apart from the one they have with their own account) and that your Shop has been caught up in the site-wide Stand Alone Pay Pal removal as a Payment Option.  At the very least, Etsy should be alerting Support to recognize these issues and be given the training and resources to communicate with affected Sellers. As EP is availsble in UK, is it possible to enrol in EP? Or will that cause an issue with original / current location and ID Verification? I wonder if it is possible to open a Payoneer account or if that is offered only to Shops in Countries where EP is not possible? It looks like you have inadvertently been caught between a rock and a hard place.

Unfortunately I can see no way around having to open a new shop,

etsy couldn't move shops to etsy payments when moving country, so let them keep paypal at the time

but now paypal only shops are all being shut. Every one.

for the shops in countries that don't have etsy payments, those shops are shutting, and they can't even open a new shop.

not sure how many shops are in this particular situation , who moved years ago to an etsy payments country, and were allowed to keep paypal only - probably not many at all, so Etsy didn't include them in the e-mail or training for their help staff - no excuse for them, they should, but I can see it easily dropping through etsy cracks.

download all your data for taxes, and listing info asap

I believe the close date deadline for shops that can't move, is 5th August, etsy will close all paypal only shops then.

"no one is on the other end of my Live Chat link" - when Chat is frozen, you need to open an email ticket to get it restored. 

I hope this can be resolved quickly, but I do fear that you will need to open a new shop after all of these years.

I am so sorry to hear this. Frustrating for you (and crushing for your business) and also a very bad experience for buyers too 
So Etsy really should be getting this sorted as a priority 
If it is a legacy issue with their connection with paypal at the very least your listings should not be showing until they get it sorted! 
Have you tried bugging them publicly on social media? Sometimes that gets your issue seen by someone different who deals with it quicker
