Pattern Enquiries have no Listing Link

I am getting enquires direct from Pattern Listings but in every case there is no image or link attached, just the message.

This means I have to answer and ask them what item they are actually enquiring about - embarrassing and makes me look incompetent.

I’ve tried different devices, including a desktop computer, using Chrome and Safari, with and without the Etsy App. No image or link appears. Please look into this - my Pattern enquiries are good but this is very inefficient.

Edited to add: the image-less messages are coming from individual Listings, from the link that says ‘Ask a Question’.

I have also had this issue, and agree, it doesn't look very professional. But Thankfully, the times I've had it happen, the Customers were very understanding about it. Just not the way you'd like to see a Major Venue go about things......

Re: Pattern Enquiries have no Listing Link

So word your message differently.  Something like, "your inquiry was not attached to any particular listing and I am unable to answer your question without knowing which item you are asking about.'  This is kind of like someone asking for a discount on postage and asking them 'where in the world' they want something shipped to.

Re: Pattern Enquiries have no Listing Link

This happens to me all the time on inbound enquiries from Pattern - I used to be able to see the linked listing, but only if I viewed the enquiry via my email app on a desktop computer, however now even that facility is gone.  I agree it makes us look unprofessional and technically lacking. It also wastes my extremely valuable time.  It would also be incredibly helpful if we could see what country people were enquiring from.

I get a lot of (often quite rude) enquiries from people wanting to know when and how much I sold items for in the past as they have something similar to sell and they don't know how to price it.  They rarely ask nicely or say please or thank you, they just demand the knowledge.   This issue makes those sort of enquiries even more time consuming and irritating.  So it goes like this:
Enquirer: When did you sell this and how much did you get for it?
Me: Hi there, I got your message but can't see what item you're referring to as it came as a general enquiry. If you let me know what it is, where you're based, and what you have, I can try and help you.
Regards, etc
Enquirer: Just tell me how much it's worth.
Me: I'm afraid I'm not sure which item you're referring to.
Enquirer: The coffee pot! I've got one the same, how much can I sell it for?
Me: I'm so sorry, but I have more than a hundred different coffee pots for sale right now, can you be more specific?
Enquirer: The black one! Are you going to tell me or not?

And so on and so on.  I am tearing my hair out sometimes . Is there a workaround, or are Etsy going to fix this bug? I resent paying a monthly fee when there's no sensible enquiry facility with the Pattern app.

Re: Pattern Enquiries have no Listing Link

Just reply that this is private information between you and the purchaser.  There is no need to do the homework for a complete stranger, especially a rude one.  Someone will be along shortly to explain how you can get the information by looking at the coding on the page.

Exactly. I just had another one right now. I explained that I don’t know which item they are enquiring about and asked them to see me info or a link. Dead air and I don’t blame them - another potential sale gone. Just infuriating that Etsy is not addressing this.

Re: Pattern Enquiries have no Listing Link

 1) I'm having the same issue with listing link not attached to questions, I've contacted Etsy / Pattern and all I get is the run around. The customer service through the Pattern site is horrible. How does someone get anything fixed on Pattern????

2) I also get the rude emails questions on how much it sold for, 10-15 emails a week. I used to reply and spend hours a week being nice, but now I just send them to my Spam Folder.

@RiverRatAntiques I gave up because of this issue. I ditched Pattern in its entirety. Not good enough that this important issue has not been attended to - it has been happening for over three months!

Re: Pattern Enquiries have no Listing Link

Etsy abandoned Pattern shortly after it was introduced.  They never programmed the promised upgrades and don't maintain it until the yelling becomes loud enough and then they renew the security certificate.  But Etsy never has and never will support Pattern.  They keep it around because it is a source of cheap revenue for no work.
