Have you tried the duplicate feature and then edit the copied listing? That's what I do and never had a problem.
Then you are not listing a new item. If it's a new listing you can not copy it.
Yes, it's a new listing. I never make a listing from scratch. I duplicate an existing listing, then edit what I need to.
@VintageByTiffinie Yes you can. I do it all the time. Copy a listing, then change the title, tags, description and images to reflect the new product. When you are done it is a completely different product and will be seen as a new product by Etsy. If you are creating a product similar to the one you copied, you won't have to redo all of the information, so it saves you time. If the form to enter a new product isn't working for some reason, copying and modifying an old product will still usually work.
Actually that's not exactly true. For the past two weeks the Core Details do not transfer to new or copied listings.
The listing has errors and will not list at all, so you just copy it with the same issue. It will not list without being able to put in core details. What is so hard to understand about this
Yes, I have had the exact same problem. I tried to copy an existing listing (to create a completely new listing) and it just carries over the "Core Details Error" to the copied listing. I called Etsy support and they told me to try a few things and it still isn't working. Guess I'm going to have to try calling support again. I don't think this issue is on my end, I think it is Etsy's issue.
I totally understand. I tried listing this morning and it won't let me put in the core details. I actually went to my computer and it let me add a new listing that way but it's more work for me because I have to send my pics of the item to the computer and then download them. I can't keep doing that. I have many new items to list. It would take me twice as long.
Oh and I understand the others too but you have to be careful to make sure you change everything from an existing listing or you'll have wrong info on your new listing. I've seen others that have incorrect info including pics! Now I know why.
@VintageByTiffinie No, you copy an existing listing, then edit as you please. Not difficult to understand.
Hello NanaLetha. Not an existing listing. It's a new listing. Got it?
Seriously, I know what copy is on Etsy. I asked Etsy when this would be fixed.
No I don't get what you are saying. If you duplicate an existing listing then edit the copied listing and publish it becomes a new listing!
Wow. New listing, not copy.
@VintageByTiffinie I know you are trying to create a NEW listing. If you COPY an old listing, then MODIFY IT to the information you want in the new listing, that is a workaround when the listing form is not working.
We are only other Etsy sellers. We can't fix the listing form. Etsy employees do sometimes read the forums, but they aren't likely to fix the form.
You would do better to send a complaint to Etsy directly from the Help->Contact Us form. If lots of people complain about it, they are more like;ly to make fixing it a priority, but Etsy never moves quickly. Thus, in the meantime, you need to find a work around, as suggested above.
I was having issues with the Core Details and finally used a drop-down arrow. I don't know why they hide it in the new listing format, it took me forever to figure out WTF "core details" meant.
What @NanaLetha and @AAANativeArts are saying is absolutely correct.
I rarely create a new listing.
I use an existing listing. Active, Expired, Sold Out, Inactive ... doesn't matter. I do try to pick a listing that has some similarities to what I'm going to list but sometimes I pick a listing that has lots of sales or views.
I right click to get the little pull down list and click Copy.
The listing will appear on my screen ... and I make sure that it says copy at the top (because I've accidently overwritten listings I wanted to keep).
I replace everything that needs to be replaced. I tend to go down the form field by field. Sometimes everything is replaced.
I click Publish.
It's a new listing. It's a new listing created by using an existing listing as a template.
You can verify that this works because the listing you used as a template will still be wherever it was and your new listing will be wherever you put it ... active or draft folder.
I've also read in the forums that different browsers may work ... that the error you're getting might be specific to the browser you're using.
Good luck creating your new listing.
I've tried copying a listing to create a new listing and is it still giving me a "Core Details" error.
Thank you SO much Glassy Fields. A bit cumbersome and have to double check everything (LOL) but worked like a charm and did show up on my first page as a new listing. Blessings.
