Hello everyone, I have opened a store here and need some help. A customer purchased an item and wrote to me saying that he was asked to insert my email. I have sent him my email. Now my question... is it normal for customers to need my email when placing an order ? If not, how do I turn it off and what do I have to do if the customer writes that he has transferred the amount, but I can't see it anywhere.
Hello,
Etsy is actively engaged in preventing scammers from targeting our community members. If you receive a suspicious message, please proceed with caution. Etsy Support will never ask you to provide personal information via Etsy Messages, such as your email address or password. Any legitimate message from us will show in your "From Etsy" folder.

This is a scam,
The buyer does not need your e-mail to purchase,
They are purchasing from Etsy, not you.
do not click on any links they give you, and do NOT give them any card number or financial information
and mark their etsy message as spam
....
Okay, thanks.
Etsy already has your email so it looks like you have been hit by a scammer/spammer.
Have you given them any financial information? If so, contact your financial institution immediately.
You have no sales in your shop.
The only funds they are wanting to transfer is from your bank account to their bank account.
Okay. Thank you.
You have no sales showing in your shop front, and when a Buyer purchases, they get your direct email. Do NOT open any email you may receive from this person - there will most certainly be links you will be encouraged to click on, and it will be a part of a scam. I'm glad you thought to come here and ask first, @SmrtStudioShop
Could you please let me know your mail, when purchasing through the app I am asked to enter yours so that a delivery note can be sent to you with my address. I have successfully paid for the product! Thank you!
You should receive a letter confirming my order by email. You need to go to my e-mail and there will be a confirmation of the order I created, please confirm it by clicking on the button there.I have received these messages so far…
Listen to what you have been told here....
DON'T CLICK ON ANY OF THOSE BUTTONS....
ETSY ALREADY HAS YOUR EMAIL AND WILL NOT ASK FOR IT WHEN YOU GET AN ORDER!!!!!
You mark them as SPAM and don't respond.
Here's what you will see when you make a sale -
* A notice on your Dashboard Activity
* A red number over your shop icon (although messages double on that too)
* A Cha-ching sound, if you have the mobile app with the Notifications set up (if you get a sound for messages on your app, then you should also hear the cash register sound when you make a sale
* A transaction email from Etsy in your actual email - title starting "Etsy Transaction - You made a sale"
* A red number over your Orders and Shipping tab in your Shop Manager menu
* Clicking on your Orders tab will show the open order
@SmrtStudioShop did you click any of those links in the message you received? If so, just to be safe - change your Etsy password and run a virus scan as soon as possible.
You do not need to click on any links in emails or messages to confirm a sale. That's a SCAM.
Real orders will appear in the Shop Manager on the Etsy website. Etsy also send you a notification email - but it's just for info.
Be very careful going forwards because the scammers now have your email address. They will send you all sorts of emails, probably with some urgency and try to get you to click on links. Never click on links in emails or Etsy messages. You can go directly to your shop manager (on the website or app) to check on the status of your shop.
You can check the validity of any communications (which appear to be from Etsy) by asking here on the forums. Do this before taking any action on them.

How do you know when you get an actual real buyer that places an order? I have a guy who keeps on sending me messages about you have an order that has been processed. I already spammed him once and he still was able to send me a message after the fact.
is there a good indicator on if you get an actual real buyer?
@MountainRangeStudio: Real orders will show up on your Orders & Shipping page and your Payments page.
Scammers tend to target new shops.

If you receive an actual order, you will see it in your "Orders and Shipping" section and you will receive an email from Etsy notifying you that you have a sale, and there will be a notification in your dashboard as well.
