I'm not sure if this fits in "Technical Issues" or somewhere else. I have never written anything about Etsy changes, etc. But I absolutely have to say something about the new ORANGE + Purple bars at the top of the Etsy Home Page. Please NO! It is so jarring, not aesthetic in the least. It's so attention grabbing I can barely concentrate while I'm on the site. Seriously, please take it off.
ETA: In mobile browser, I don't see the purple. In desktop view, I do. Geeez, now I have orange, yellow, and then light purple underneath. My eyes don't like it.
Yes! My eyes are still reacting as if a camera flash just went off.
I also have the orange and the purple that combo is absolutely hideous
It's hideous! There's another thread here:
The lilac/pale yellow/ bright orange is incredibly offputting. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see three glaring shades of blue, too. I have no idea who would imagine this would be a good thing!
It's probably following the "trend" in public art that is all about using maximum colors and patterns in public-places. You can see it around the world in bridge facades, pop-up shops & kiosk fronts, banners & awnings, outdoor walls and building sides ..... Etsy must consider the site to be a "public space".
It's supposed to bring "a buzz of joy and lightheartedness" to casual observers.
I think the world did this back in the days of pop culture, Beatlemania, Twiggy and Andy Warhol etc. Back then it was supposed to "disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed" or some such mantra.
I think "a buzz of joy" is the better label lol.
Swings and roundabouts. It's becoming more prevalent in renovations of older homes too, to give them a "popping fresh impact" apparently. All these accompanying slogans make me feel old TBH.
@onedaysgracenz @It’s disturbing, all right…nothing but a reiteration of Peter Max psychedelic imagery. I wasn’t keen on that style of art (read: “hated” it) back then, either. Mid-century needs to go away….far away. Of course, that’s just my opinion. But those colors certainly don’t represent me or my shop and clash with my soft, classic Leonardo DaVinci banner. And they certainly don’t mesh with my brand esthetic. I just wish they had an original idea…they just keep rehashing the 1960s. Ugh! It’s almost as if they blindfolded some poor intern, turned him around three times and asked him to pin the tail on the color wheel.
Yes, I attended a festival recently and all the advertising, website and info at the event was of every colour and so jarring. I didn't realise it was a trend, it is hideous.
I was always taught keep to only two fonts and keep your colours within a range.
I agree. It just popped on my site when I refreshed & this orange/lavender color scheme hurts not only your eyes, but your brain!!! NO, No, NO!
Dear Etsy, when we said we miss some of the things from "the old Etsy," this is not what we meant. I can't speak for everyone (though I'm sure many would agree), but what I meant was "let ME run MY shop and of course, still follow YOUR rules." Sounds fair to me, just saying.
PS We are still super p*ssed about all things involving OUR photos.
The home page is showing as normal for me on the app and via using a desktop browser, with no purple and orange bars at the top of the page.
@GalleryAntiques normal for me too (app & desktop) ... the only thing I have at top is the glaring yellow Labor Day Sale event banner.
@TBQSC I also see a yellow banner but only on the app for an end-of-summer sale/get up to 50% off.
Yeah, not a fan of this. A few weeks back I changed up the colors on my banner to a burnt orange and now it looks like I was trying to match it.... like some weird store front - Ha! It looks weird but I'm hoping after the weekend it will go away???
do people still take LSD?
I think they mostly take mushrooms now.
I don’t know, but after seeing this a little psychotropic injection might make it look better. Or, I could just poke my eyes out.
Ouch, it hurt my eyes, and I almost went for my sunglasses!
it is a very awful color combination.
It is way too bright ugh
100% agree. I have never submitted any feedback to Etsy before about any site changes but this orange bar has got to go. Brutal. Can't concentrate.
It reminds me of Temu, unfortunately.
C'mon Etsy! Do you know how painful a migrane can be??
If you have a transparent background on your images in listings, it has just changed to orange instead of black.. very annoying and clashes like mad
I'm going to buck the trend here and say I quite like it. I love orange (:
