Odd Message From Etsy

I have just received this message from Etsy on my messages and don't really know why or what ( or any other number of questions ) , anybofy had one of these please ?

Dear Seller,

Your store's order handling system is currently paused. To reactivate and view new customer orders, kindly share your email via chat. A notification for simple verification will be sent to you shortly.

Its a Scam, just ignore and mark as spam.

SCAMMY SPAM.

there is a section in your shop manager that says something like 'Messages from Etsy'.

If the email/message isn't in that section...it is not from Etsy.

Etsy is being hit hard by scammers who are putting a lot of pressure on new shops who they feel are vulnerable. You want sales, of course. You don't know the ropes, naturally. So they act like you have a sale but you won't get any money until...

nope, that's not how it works. Here since 2007.

Thank you for this - I'm always careful about possible scams but this one threw me as it looked sooo real - scumbags!

The easiest way to tell if a message from etsy is real or not is this:

If that message is NOT in the "FROM ETSY" section on your message page, it's 100% a scam.

It doesn't matter how real it looks or if it states Etsy staff, Etsy support, Etsy assistant or Etsy stuff.

If it's not in that "From Etsy" folder then it's not from Etsy.

Plus Etsy would NEVER ask a seller to send an email  via Chat or any other way.
Think about it.....Etsy HAS your email, why would they need it? They don't.

If anything on your finance page needs updated you'll see a notice there and possibly on your dashboard.

Yup - just discovered this ' From Etsy '  in my messages ( never even knew that it existed ) - nothing there at all !! 

I wonder how many people get caught out though, I'm always cautioning my elderly father in law about this stuff!

You should have had a POP up on the message page about this new "From Etsy" section.

At one time the message page also had a light orange banner warning sellers about scams and Etsy or a buyer would never need your email plus a few other things.

But if you clicked "OK I got it" without reading through it, it will never show up again either.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this, I have been working SO hard towards Christmas and then I got this message, you solved the issue for me within minutes and I appreciate it ever so much.

Of course, the problem is that Etsy qualified things by saying "if it's not in this section...look for an authentic Etsy badge..."

I wonder how a new seller would know what is authentic and what is not. They should have stopped after saying Official messages will show up in the From Etsy section. But Etsy likes to confuse things, unfortunately.
