Hope Etsy sees this and makes it more intuitive, easier to use, and less clicks. That is all.
I do like that it loads and processes faster though. I really really wish they kept the old layout though.
I like the old listing layout. It is so much easier to use!
The old listings layout is much better. And I can't put the translated part of the listing with this new version!
Very difficult to create new listings
Well, it simply doesn't work for me. I can't save a listing in it no matter what browser or computer I use. It's upsetting that Etsy is getting rid of a program that works without fixing the new one. I'll have to use other sites for new items if Etsy can't fix it. I've reported the problem twice. So we'll see?
This is just so Etsy, isn't it?
The old one works just fine so ............
LET'S FIX IT!
@OneEyeCatStudio . . . .rather than have a look at the REAL problems, and correcting those!
I found the new one works so much better than the old. I truly worked with it and found it to be a great improvement over the old one.
Exactly.
Of course.
I expected this to happen at some point but I really like the old format. I keep trying to get used to the new format but always end up switching to the old version.
The new form sucks. I only used the old one. They always have to make it more complicated than it has to be. I wish they would direct that kind of development to seller support instead. Well, I can dream.
My problems with the new listing page that make me use the old one:
sometimes I change a shipping profile because it's custom and ships later but the new listing page did not really save it. So I sold the item and see it has the OLD shipping profile where instead of weeks it ships in a day or two. Fortunately it was nearly finished because it happened on a weekend but it happened a few times so then I stopped changing the shipping profile while in the new listing page. Thing is it looks like it saves, it tells you it saved it, then it reverts.
I also found it drops variations and I only found out much later that people didn't see the choices I gave them. Pick one and you can't.
It also drops tags. It's hard to prove except that they were missing and I usually have all or close to all.
Sometimes I get trapped in the photo section in a loop and it won't let me out. This is a bad one.
There were various other little things I wanted to do on the page and it didn't work properly. I have a problem with it because I can't trust it, and because it is slow.
The new listing form opens automatically (ugh) but I was able to click old form upper left corner (yay). Made updates and saved but didn't notice till later that any new listing pages I started with were still "open" on my computer. Glad I noticed because I had to close each separately. Be aware of this.
I've always stuck with the old form, but they are doing away with it in June, so we will soon have no choice but to use the new form.
eta: nothing.
Am I the only one that noticed if you use manual shipping that there is no place to put a shipping cost. Just the size and weight. Are they trying to make me use calculated shipping which I have no intention of doing?
I am having problems with saved shipping profiles. I do not want them or use them. I want to put mine in manually each time due to the items I sell. Each item is different!
Absolutely. They are going to make you use shipping profiles whether you want to or not.
Two yards of fabric hardly ever weigh the same!!!!
You can't use profiles on items like fabric.
Entering shipping costs is available. Simly click on the shipping profile. Click on create new. When that box opens up click on shipping cost. Drop down where it says Etsy calcuate it for me to show I'll enter costs manually.
" Are they trying to make me use calculated shipping which I have no intention of doing?"
They are trying to get you to switch to Pirateship.
Try it and see.
I'm in the minority. I prefer the new format. Sure I had intense conversations with Etsy about it when it first started. I sent them information every time.
If something is missing and you did not tell them what the problems were for you then you missed an opportunity.
