I never bothered to manually translate my shop since we mostly use custom variations and they are not translatable. Now the auto-translate etsy applies was pretty off lately...
For example: we sell quite a lot of equestrian products so we use 'horse sizes" for that... the largest standard horse size is called 'FULL' , one smaller is 'COB' , etc etc and this is fine and understandable for Dutch, French and German customers (also the size labels on the items are with these names). But ety started to find it nescessary in the last couple of months to start auto-translating these to weird things.
On other items we use a custom variation to for example have the customer choose the placement of the personalisation on the item. This also gives weird auto translations which makes us end up with for example French customers not understanding what 'Retour' stands for (the original is embroidery on the 'BACK' of a bathrobe & 'Retour' in French is more something like 'return' or 'un retour' is like a parcel that is send return to sender, so the translation is indeed not correct in this context)
So I was kind of hoping that with the new listings form it would be worth it to manually translate my listings to French, Dutch and German... Up untill now no option to translate your variations...
yes, I could go with 1, 2 ,3 4,... as variations and specify in the listing info what each of these stand for in each language, but this is not very intuitive for a customer to order. The description is hard to find on etsy and we we know from best practices in sales you need to have the least amount of unclarity and hurdles for customers to be able to make their purchase, so I don't really see this as a good alternative....
Is there any chance this missing piece of translation could be integrated? or in the near future?
