New Seller

I'm a new seller to Etsy. I wanted to reach out and see if all of you had to go through quite an involved process to sell items. I'm weeding out my Beanie Baby collection and a buyer bought two. But we both had to send payments through Venmo/PayPal, etc. to verify ourselves and for protection coverage. I have been assured that the money will be returned. Is this standard for Etsy?  Just checking!

First of all, you did not get 2 sales, your shop has zero sales, so Etsy can't help you.  So you need to call your venmo or paypal ASAP, because it sounds like you were scammed and your accounts could be compromised.

Unfortunately this was a scam.  Sellers do not need to verify email, credit card or bank information for any reason in order for someone to purchase from their shop.

You got scammed. Call Venmo/PP and report fraud. Before you go any further with your shop, read up on how etsy works!!!!!!!
