Am I missing something or is this a glitch? I am renewing a sold listing on my desktop computer and the final screen says my listing will expire 4 months from today, yet it gives the "New Expiration Date" as August 14 2024. Umm... shouldn't it be November 28 2024?
Sounds like a glitch.
August 14th is the day it would have expired if it hadn't sold. When you actually relist the item, it will have the correct expiration date. The new listing format has done this all the time I have been using it.
Seeing a similar problem here, except it says the new expiration date will be 3 days ago. ??
I thought they had renewed correctly despite the date problem, but I just noticed that the renewed items aren't showing up in their assigned categories. They only show up on my shop's main page, even after reassigning them back to the correct category.
I have this issue also (on desktop). It gives totally random expiration date. My workaround is not to go onto the listing, but renew it from listings' page. Then I'd deactivate and go into the listing to edit, and then activate it.
This glitch was on the app, but it's on PC now too since the new listing form.
It's not a totally random date. It is the date it expired or the date it would have expired if it hadn't sold. As far as I recall it has been this way since the new listing form was first introduced.
No matter what date it says, I go ahead and list anyway and it has never once listed with a wrong expiration date.
In the case of sold items, I think it is kind of a neat feature as it shows you how far into the 4 month listing the item sold.
If I renew sold out listing, it gives me new expiration date two months and three days. It's a pop up right before relisting, "your new expiration date is [random date]."
The old form always gave correct expiration date, so I assumed it's a glitch.
It's probably showing 4 months from "the date it would have expired if it hadn't sold," not from the date it's being renewed. it's misleading.
For me it is definitely the day it would have expired if it hadn't expired and the day it did expire if it was expired. I just tested it with an inactive item that expired January 26, 2021 and that was the date that showed up when I went to relist.
Since the actual relist date has always been correct, I just ignore what it says on the listing form. However, I do think it is working (for whatever reason) as Etsy intended and if not it is a minor glitch compared to most of the others.
I decided to try to renew using the Etsy App on my phone and the new expiration date was November 28 2024 which is correct. Something is wrong when using the computer.
@BrambleBunnyDesigns: We rarely renew by editing a listing, but when we have, the popup always shows an incorrect date but once the listing has renewed the correct expiration date shows when checking using the listing manager.
We do all of our Etsy management exclusively via a browser.
