Etsy store not indexed by Google after more than a year

Hello,

I opened my Etsy store 15 months ago (in April 2023) and have made almost 200 sales. My store is in good standing and I have had no issues that I am aware of.

When following the instructions in the Seller Handbook to check whether my store has been indexed by Google, it appears that it still has not been indexed.

This is what I've searched on Google, which has revealed it is not indexed:
site:etsy.com/shop/binchickenbaby

I chatted with a customer support agent from the Etsy Seller Team who told me that Etsy can't assist with this as it's up to Google to crawl the site, which can take anywhere from days to weeks - noting that I have been waiting well over a year.

The agent made some suggestions such as using the following Google Search Console tools - none of which I am able to access because I'm unable to verify my ownership of the site (i.e., I don't own the Etsy website).

In the end, the agent reiterated that Etsy can't help and that I would have to speak to Google.

I'm not sure what to do next. I filled out all sections of my store over a year ago when I first opened it, and I add new listings regularly. I also regularly promote my Etsy store on Instagram, and I have tried promoting it on Pinterest as well - I'm not sure what more I can do.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and is there any known way to fix it?

Bonjour, j'ai tapé "BinChickenBaby etsy" est vous êtes le deuxième résultat, le premier étant le résultat de recherche si vous l'aviez tapé sur Etsy.

@BinChickenBaby  When I entered your shop name in Google search and clicked on your shop it took me to Etsy results instead of your shop.

@SugarTaffySoap, yes, when I Google my shop name, I too can see of results for other items sold by other sellers, but not my shop (which would be https://www.etsy.com/shop/BinChickenBaby - which I can get to directly but Google is otherwise unaware of). I guess this is because it hasn't been indexed.

The Etsy support agent agreed that my store has not been indexed by Google - but also told me that Etsy can't help.

Mon deuxième résultat de la recherche google menait directement à votre boutique, donc elle doit être indexée

Unfortunately Etsy agents seem to have a limited knowledge of most subjects and often give out incorrect responses.

I did a general Google search of your question and I found this which may help:

@BinChickenBaby: How, when, and if Google chooses to index (or display in search results) anything is up to Google alone.

Keep in mind that Google is indexing Etsy not your shop or your listings specifically.

Only Google can answer your question.

I checked mine, I last checked them in April. The Etsy and the Ebay ones are both there.

Try linking some of your items to a Social site like Facebook. I set up a Facebook page to look at my Vintage Store Etsy site a few months ago and I get a few hits a day from it. It should help Google find you.

Best of luck

Yes, this is strictly a Google issue. I can't imagine how Etsy could help in any way. Etsy is a tiny speck among the bazillion sites across the web that Google indexes - if somehow they have failed to index your site, only Google can fix it. If you Google the problem, hopefully you can figure it out. Guess I would start by redoing whatever you did when you first started on Etsy and hope this time it works.

Bing indexed your shop.  Unfortunatelu Google no longer includes that information freely.  But your shop is listed.   And your items show in search on Google.

Re: Etsy store not indexed by Google after more than a year

Google has indexed your shop; I see it third here: https://www.google.com/search?q=BinChickenBaby+Etsy&pws=0&gl=us&gws_rd=cr but under the India URL, not Australiahttps://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aetsy.com%2Fin-en%2Fshop%2Fbinchickenbaby&newwindow=1&sca_esv=...

The search you link in your OP is the US/general URL.  It doesn't matter what country version Google indexes first, as long as it is in the language people are searching.

I also see several of your items, so no problem there.

The reason some people (including me) are seeing a Market page ahead of your shop is that Etsy Market pages usually have great Google SEO. I'd work on the shop announcement, and keep your shop fresh and active, as well as get backlinks to it, to improve your shop home page's SEO. Social media posts are generally not very helpful for Google SEO, but social media profiles can be (depending on the site). Pinterest and Instagram often hide posts from people who are not logged into their site, so they won't help you mush, especially if the post isn't linking directly to your home page.

(Etsy Support is not a good source for help on anything but the most basic Etsy problems, and even then, not much. Your question is very straightforward and anyone with basic Google knowledge can answer it)
