On my Android phone I used to be able to open the old Etsy app and click marketing and then social media and I could post Etsy and then on to Facebook and Instagram.
For example I could take a recent review or new listing and post it to Etsy, then Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram, all from the same post.
Yesterday the old etsy app was removed and replaced with the new Etsy app but I can't seem to find how to post to social media.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions?
The new app does not have shop updates. It is a main complaint, of many, related to the new and "improved" app, especially since the time it was launched Etsy started urging everyone to do shop updates.
@NoFrogsAllowed what do you mean by shop updates?
On the old app there was a thing called shop updates where you could share listings, announcements, sales, etc. to social media and it also showed on your shop home page.
Thanks! I never shared shop updates, only listings. Now you can share many more listings easier than before and with the link at the top of the homepage you can post announcements and sale codes. I really wish Etsy would've sent out a basic FAQ about the app for us!
For social media, go to Listings (left of the more tab at the bottom of the screen) and from there you can click on the listings you want to share. You can select different sections/items too - it's actually much better than the old app for sharing!
Maybe I've missed something (likely), but from what I've seen when you share, you share the whole listing. I want to share parts of the listing, with wording appropriate to the situation, not the whole listing. My goal is to get people to come to my shop. If they see the whole listing there is no reason for them to come to see more about the item.
@NoFrogsAllowed I only share to Instagram. On Android, when you hit share, you choose the listing and specific image and hit share again which copies the url to your clipboard. It then brings up your dashboard for sharing links like Instagram. Once there, I use my clipboard to add the url and I fill in the title/tags, edit image, etc. Not sure why you would want to share only part of a listing unless you mean the photo?
I said why I only wanted to share part in my previous post.
When I have tried it, it showed just like the listing. I want one picture, a description I write for the share, etc. I don't want a regurgitated listing.
Maybe I have a glitch or maybe I need to reinstall the app.
Shop updates and the cha-ching are the only reason I even installed the app. In general I hate apps and always use the browser.
Thank you. Do you happen to know if there a way to share a review?
@NoFrogsAllowed Agree, much prefer my laptop too but you have to use the app for Instagram. It only takes 2mins to post and still I almost never do it. I hate social media altogether and don't even use Facebook except for family events.
Sorry for the misunderstanding! When sharing to Instagram, I can create the title and the only thing copied is the url. I write my own hashtags too. If someone clicks on post, the link takes them to my shop. On the old app, it copied the title but I would just delete it and write in my own. Guess that's the closest you can come to customizing your posts.
@FallsAveVintage: We post to Instagram from desktop all the time using the Meta Business Suite.
We find it easier, quicker, and cleaner to just create our own posts "from scratch" than to use any of the Etsy tools.
@BagmakerSupply Thx for the tip! Will have to try it for my Ebay listings. I really need to post more often. It takes all of 2 mins with the app but I can't stand doing it.
Often rather than a listing, I like to share shop reviews or new listings to my shop but I don't see a way to share a new review to Etsy, and then onto Instagram and Facebook??
Yah I'm having the same problem right now, but seems like now that function isn't available anymore...
