Some of you may remember my post from yesterday asking why reports of live animal sales were not being acknowledged or taken down, and I got a lot of good advice...NOW HOWEVER, the listings are getting worse and creepier! Today I logged on to see in my recommendations a listing (and apparently, there are many other shops that do this??!!) for something called a "wet specimen head," and this thing some complete with gauged-out eyes that have been replaced with moonstones as some sort of selling point?? The first one I saw was a raccoon, and judging by the teeth, it was very young...so how are these weirdos getting these heads?? I have attached a link but WARNING it is disturbing. I also whited out the name, so I was not held liable per forum rules (you know how they are sticklers on the good guys), but if you type in "wet specimen heads" in search, you will find them. HOW DO WE STOP THIS???? HELP! Enough is enough! My reports were on snails and isopods, plus a few turtles and lizards, but these are mammal heads!! Here is the link, or click the other if this does not work... [REMOVED BY MODERATION]

wet specimens have been sold on etsy for a long time.
and they are very popular.
i suggest clearing your cookies from etsy.
so they stop showing you these things.
they are legal to sell here.
but must be listed as *mature*

Thank you!
Go to the media. Etsy only pretends to care about these things when they get bad press.
I'm not clicking that link.
This really isn't a big deal. These aren't alive animals and wet specimens are very common.
It is a big deal. Where are they getting these animals? That is the problem as there are many people out there who do not consider an animal a live being and do horrible things like this to them.
@TheBackyardBear Well that is a different story. I definitely think that stores should list their sources for where they obtain their specimens. That doesn't mean, however, that ALL of these sellers are getting specimens through animal cruelty. A lot of specimens are collected from roadkill or animals who die of old age, or even scavenging through forests to find skulls or skeletons and whatnot.
Report explicit items as against the Mature Listings Policy. Cite the Taxidermy and Curiosities rules.
NOTE that they are NOT ALLOWED to sell cat or dog parts - THAT is prohibited.
If you don't want to see these, go to your profile, click on Privacy and then "clear recently viewed items".
Its not about not seeing them, its so unethical, Etsy should be rising above selling cruelty. I don't want to see it either.
I am showing this to the skunks and raccoons who raid my bird feeder every night. They have no respect for us and need to know how good they have it.
