Re: My store was hacked!

Your shop redirects from Etsy to your website. Against Etsy’s TOU.

Are you saying that someone has hacked into your shop and put those links there? If so, get in there and change password and relevant info asap.

Re: My store was hacked!

This same thing has been happening for several weeks. Sellers with empty Shops are finding Listings being added and / or strange notifications in their Shop Announcement and About section referring potential Buyers to websites which the Seller, clearly, does not own/run.

Obviously, the "hackers" do not have access to your Bank Info because they are directing Sales to their own websites.

You need to remove any listing and all information in Announcements and About section. It may also be a good idea to change your Banking information or just alerting your Bank in the event the hackers do try to redirect funds there.

Then you need to contact Etsy about changing your email address and password / log in information. Do not do this from any random email you may receive as many have reported being permanently locked out when following an email link. Only change information / details within your Shop and at Etsy's instructions

Etsy will be able to retrospectiely trace how this happened, but that is not your issue. Your priority is to secure your Shop and personal identity.

Re: My store was hacked!

Scary! Are there many shops to which accounts were hacked?

How do they do it? And how can we protect ourselves in advance?

@RosinTrails

If you do not have 2 factor authentication enabled, then do so for all your shops. Here is the Etsy help article:

Re: My store was hacked!

For one, don't leave your shop open all day when not actively using your browser.

Make sure your password is not a simple one or easily guessed.  Don't share the password with anyone.

Use high quality anti-virus.  Anything free does not do the job.

Two factor is good but can be a hassle if you don't have easy access to your cell phone all the time plus it is not a complete protector.

Don't click on any links in emails that appear to be Etsy but isn't truly clear.  Always come inside Etsy to find out if the email is real.  Especially any password change requests.

Keep your shop active.

Monitor your banking information which anyone should do for anything on a daily basis.

We can't stop it always from happening but prudent steps can reduce the threat.

Re: My store was hacked!

@pimlim contact Etsy Support Specialists and report the issue immediately,

https://www.etsy.com/support-and-trust

Go down to Support specialists - then click  Selling on Etsy - then click your Etsy account - then my account was hacked and then you will have a further three options, use either My password was changed or My email was changed to report the issue, include the url of the hacked account.

Re: My store was hacked!

Etsy doesn’t notify us when we list items. Then again, maybe they do and I opted out to receiving the emails so long ago that I forgot.

You need to remove everything in your About section. Once you have everything settled financially with Etsy, I would go through the steps of physically closing your shop so it’s not sitting empty. This has been happening to abandoned shops lately.

Re: My store was hacked!

I have found 3 shops TODAY alone with that exact verbiage saying Discount when you purchase from our site or when you go the the listings it says do not purchase from our etsy go to this website. When I looked up those websites they seem to be a scam. Under one review in Google a shop owner said they hacked her account and listed their own things. They all seem to be svg/t-shirt designs. I reported 2 shops today and as I keep searching for designs I keep finding more. I don't want Etsy to think I'm on a reporting binge but man this is getting crazy. When you look at the "last updated" dates they have all seem to have been hacked in the past 2 weeks. I hope Etsy is going to do something about this for these shop owners.

Re: My store was hacked!

Ongoing SCAM where older shops with no recent listings or activity start selling unrelated items.

It has been an ongoing issue for awhile.

Seems like some try to get legit sales before switching over to digital files. Maybe the think with some real product sales/reviews may make them appear more legit.

One of these scams has been to copy and paste many of the legitimate seed sellers ads. Of course they undercut the originally seller by selling for far less. We believe based on seeing reviews from these sales that they used the original seed seller to drop-ship the products for them.

So may also include some fraudulent buyers accounts as well since noone in their right mind would pay more for a product then they are charging especially given the fees involved.

After the listings get reported and taken down these shops are sometimes being left open. They just move on to copying other types of product ads.

Re: My store was hacked!

Oh definitely didn't. It all seemed shady, so I just went to google and typed in valardesigns reviews and found their info on trustpilot and scamadvisors. I feel like I'm seeing so many now.

Re: My store was hacked!

@PerfectShadesCreates  so basically they are doing the rounds if you have seen many shops, maybe the site needs to be called out on technical issues and hope Etsy can get this sorted out before they start going into shops that are actually active.

@pimlim  the best advice would be to just close your account down if your not using it.

Re: My store was hacked!

@daisysjewellerygifts  yes it looks like it. They're not the only site though. I've seen them for Drabundlesvg and another another one. One sold knitting designs and now their page is full of svg designs for t-shirts. one sold slime from australia and now it's full of svg with very angry customers. They're all different "business names" and websites but follow the same copy.

Re: My store was hacked!

@daisysjewellerygifts yep! HeritageKnitting1 is another. And you can tell how most of them have been hacked because they've been selling one thing for so long and then sometime in June everything switched to SVG/PNG files. So I seriously hope Etsy cracks down on that.
