My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

I had hit all my targets, my dispatch was 95% on the 30th September, unfortunately overnight whilst waiting for someone to get back to me on personalisation, one of my orders went overdue, meaning my score went down to 94% on the 1st October - AFTER the calculating period. Yet I have not received my star seller badge due to this? This is wrong. Please help fix as I have worked really hard to hit all targets.

There is no way to fix that. Next time extend the shipping date.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

I have been onto Etsy chat and they have told me to report it here to be fixed?

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

Also, this has nothing to do with my Star Seller badge- all my targets were on point up until 30th September, therefore qualifying for the badge, it wasn't until the 1st October that this went down to 94% which is into the next period.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

@JustJackStudio   This is the seller's forum.  Customer Service sent you here not to get it fixed, but so we sellers can tell you one fact:

Etsy never adjusts Star Seller.

Ever.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

@JustJackStudio: "it wasn't until the 1st October that this went down to 94%" The October star and badges were based on July, August, and September, The current stats are for the November star and use data from August, September, and October. Your score probably went down on October 1st because all the data from July is no longer included in the calculations.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

They gave me this direct link, said to fill out the forum and that etsy will check and fix it. Is that not correct then? I will get back on the chat now thanks!

No, try chat again you may get someone more experienced, they tend to close chat or send you here if they do not know the answer to your question

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

They sent you here so we could explain to you that they will do nothing.

It's easier than arguing with you themselves. It makes US the bad guys.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

It is a technical glitch though, it was 95% on the 30th September, which is when the date runs till to qualify for it

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

@JustJackStudio

I know that the phone support and live chat support folks tell you to post here for help but it's just us sellers here. The live chat and phone call back support people are just a call center folks. They are very very limited in the issues they can help with and pretty much just repeat what's in the help center articles. Unfortunately the Help Center article says the same incorrect thing- to post here.

Here is the link https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller?segment=selling

it says "Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."

But they changed this to a peer to peer support forum a few years ago so it's just us sellers here sadly. Occasionally an admin will pop in if there is a major issue going on but generally it's just us sellers. If you need more help from etsy support you will need to contact them again but this time consider using the email option. That is the only one that will get you to an actual etsy employee vs the call center folks.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

This is a seller forum, we are other sellers, we can't fix anything.

...

If it was due to ship on 30th, and it didn't ship before midnight on 30th, it's late and it's part of septembers stats,

It's not a technical glitch

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

@JustJackStudio: Keep in mind that Star Seller and the CSV files that give you the data on which badges are awarded are in UTC not your time zone. If you look at the "Last Review Period" tab on your Star Seller page you will see what the calculations were based on. Orders are usually not included until after the scheduled ship by date regardless of when you shipped, and Star Seller data appears to be updated just once daily.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

The last two days don't count for October SS.  They will for November.  Is that the time frame you are looking at?  The current one which counts only August and September with October only starting?  Usually star seller announcements are later in the day.

Check the previous CSV to see if something else is the reason.

Also when waiting for something from the customer a quick update to shipping may have helped you.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

it's the messages that are rolled over, as you have time to reply, after you received the messages

if it's shipped late, it's not rolled over

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

Sounds to me like the directions are to start a thread in the Tech section of this forum. Nobody who actually sells on Etsy would ever say "fill out the form."

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

Here is what I suspect may have happened. The total number of orders you shipped for the period dropped from what showed the previous day and therefore, the calculation would have dropped to reflect that.

We are stuck with 3 months of inaccurate calculations at times due to glitches in the program. Etsy will NOT make changes, even if a seller proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the results are not accurate. Even if Etsy agrees it is wrong! It happened to me too and now I begin this period with a 96% shipping score when I have NEVER failed to ship per requirements. But when I inspected the orders factored in there was an entire order that did not even appear in the calculations. Therein I think lies the issue. I almost wish there was a way to choose not to participate in this program! Etsy won't fix things that are broken. Instead, they concentrate on BS that sellers don't want and customers mostly aren't even aware of...go figure.

Re: My star seller badge has been calculated wrong.

Star seller was and is a bad idea and is meaningless because the parameters are arbitrary and aren't really under the seller's control.  SS status can change if a customer leaves a bad review that has nothing to do with the seller's shipping, product, or customer service .  Life is unfair - SS is unfair.  You can do everything absolutely right and to the best of your ability and have it all change on a dime because of a late delivery or the customer didn't read the description.  There are star sellers that are breaking rules and exemplary sellers losing SS every day.  Frankly I think it's sickening and it has caused a lot of grief.  If I follow the Etsy rules, it is up to me to conduct my shop's business as successfully as I can and let that speak for itself.  This is a gimmick that Etsy wanted to employ when their time should have been occupied with things that would really make a difference and allow the shops to create their own motivation and inspiration.  As much as I oppose it, I answer messages I wouldn't have before they started this because it does hurt to lose it.   It's a psychological game and I would so much prefer the crackdown of rule breakers that are clogging the search for true vintage, handmade, and unique items.
