Please fix this issue. I know you are eager to collect as many fees as possible but I am deliberately letting old listings expire and now I have a hand full that got renewed without my consent. This is a very unmetrical way to keep making money from your sellers.
You are not talking to Etsy here==just other sellers like yourself.
Go to your shop manager and click on "listings" on the left--you can then edit your listings and switch them back to manual using the bulk edit function at the top of the listing page..
And do this at least once a week, just to be sure and safe
Have you double checked to see if they are still set to manual renew? The default is auto renew so you have to check the box any time you edit/renew etc. You can bulk edit all your listings to set them all to manual without checking and they will all update. I do that every few weeks just to be sure I didn't miss checking that box whenever I renew or edit a listing. I often miss it so just a few seconds to bulk edit all the listings resets everything to manual renew because they can easily be changed by Etsy.
The manual renewal only applies to listings that have expired. If you have more than one available, it will automatically renew if sold, even if set to manual. Make sure your quantities are also set to 1. Any listing I clicked on to check had multiple quantities available, so even if they are set to manual, they will automatically renew if sold.
So for digital download items where I have the quantity set to 999, it will renew each time someone makes a purchase of that item?
@BytefulArts: "... the quantity set to 999, it will renew each time someone makes a purchase of that item?" Yes. Being a digital listing is immaterial in this case.
@BytefulArts Yes, the listing will automatically renew if you have set a quantity of 999. The only way for the listing to not auto renew is if you sold all 999 in one sale.
Once you bulk edit to make sure your listings are all on manual then renew by clicking into the listing and scrolling down to click renew in the bottom right hand corner of the page. They will stay on manual if you renew this way.
I've been having this issue as well. I've gone through each one individually even to double check that they were manual, but sure enough I had 15 auto-renew recently. I've had my shop on vacation for over a year and this pops up every once in a while. Such a pain!
This doesn't make sense.
I created listings last week, and they are physical items, with quantities set to 999. When someone placed an order, I got charged a 'auto renew sold listing' for every unit sold.
Is this normal?
Why is this not part of 6.5% processing fee, that Etsy already charges?
Yes, that is how it works, it costs 20cents to list 1 item. If you have a quantity set and it sells, the item is automatically relisted and you pay 20 cents for that listing. If you don’t want it to automatically do that, then change your quantity to 1.
The listing is good for 4 months or until it sells. The listing is for 1 item and it sold so you need to relist if you want to sell another one. If someone buys 2 items then you will be charged for 2 listings. You don’t get to spend 20 cents and sell 999 for just the original listing fee. If you don’t want it to relist then set the quantity as 1. You can relist it manually if you want to.
Because the listing fee is the listing fee, and the processing fee is the processing fee. They are not one in the same. Not everyone has multiple quantities, so someone that wants to relist an item has to pay another $.20 listing fee to do so.
I have always set mine to manual but at some point they flip it over to automatic, it has been this way for years for me. I bulk edit them all once a month to manual to keep them there. Definitely not something them should be doing but I doubt you could get it changed, they make a lot of sneaky money doing it.
