My chat has been down for three days. All my attempts are unsuccessful. Does anyone know what I need to do to reactivate the chat on my page. Thanks.
Hi, @MaggyWand I've got the same problem. I used chat a few days ago (successfully) and now it's not working. I opened a support ticket for the issue instead (which was resolved) and also asked them to fix my chat window, but so far it's still dead. I suspect the agent didn't close down the convo after our previous chat.
i meet the same problem with you, the button of "add taxpayer id" is gray, i couldn't click it to add.
i also couldn't contact live chat, i contacted them 3 days ago, but it seems agent doesn't close out the chat properly so it's dead space , i could type, but no one respondes.
i created support request to them but they mark "This request is complete" without any response.
Holiday weekend in the USA.. Etsy headquarters is here in the USA.. Chat might be unavailable this weekend. You might have to wait until Tuesday.. even tho I believe not all agents are in the USA.

Do you mean Support Chat for Star Sellers? If so, we can't activate it (or re-activate it). Hope I'm understanding correctly.

I know that it is only available particular hours/days but 3 days seems odd when you are a SS. Try a different browser or device and see if the option presents. Etsy is glitchy as H.
Another thought is since the chat icon is on the screen edge, make sure your screen isn't above 100% and cutting it off.
Yes, I'm SS and I'm trying to activate the chat in vain. I didn't really understand what you advised me.
Do you have your screen zoomed larger than 100%? That might not be the reason.
On a PC Click Alt F then a box should open. Look where it says Zoom. If it says 100% you're good. If the number is higher click the minus sign to get it back to 100%.
I tried using another browser, there is no change, everything is the same, the chat does not work.
@MaggyWand have you used chat previously/recently? Some times the agents forget to sign off and the current window stays open. I had to call support to get them to fix it.
Yes, I used the support recently, but I don't have the possibility of a phone call, my country doesn't have that. I have accumulated problems, each one more beautiful than the other. First I was asked to fill in seller info and taxpayer ID, and since I'm from Montenegro etsy doesn't have Montenegro on it's country list for taxpayer ID's. Of course, they don't accept my tax ID. When I contacted the chat for help, they told me that I would receive an answer by email. I didn't get anything. In the meantime, the chat has stopped working.

USe email. I have never had chat and don't want to take the time to have them reset it.
I prefer email as it goes to an actual Etsy employee/

Etsy does not have an email address that you can write to, but you can send a message through your Shop Manager>Help>Selling on Etsy, then choose something close to what your issue is. Then you may need to scroll down to "I Still Need Help" and follow the prompts. If the Email Us option does not show up, try a different issue.
They do not make it easy.

I have been on Etsy for 5 years. So far I have not used help or chat. Now that I need it, it's closed. I see it happening to other people and I don't think it's OK. We all have problems from time to time, and that's why help (chat) exists. But when a real problem arises, help is denied.

Is the Etsy chat answered by AI, since many chats are blocked because "allegedly" the person forgot to close the dialog?
Huh?? that makes no sense to me about closing chat.. I have been on chat a few times this last month. Works fine.
Yes- when you first log in- you can generally tell you are chatting with a polite computer.. then I just keep typing that I need to chat with a real human rep and I get one-- you can tell the difference in how they talk to you.
chat is to help on THEIR time frame not ours.. I think it is nice that they have that at least.. I agree that a more dedicated help line would be better but this is at least something.
Sorry you have troubles just now. Maybe the chat reps took off early for the long holiday weekend here.
I hope so. My clock is ticking, I have 4 more days to solve my problem. I believe that someone responsible will notice this situation and help start a chat. Thank you for your support.

Chat is broken.
Chat broke after I had a long and frustrating chat with a human last Thursday. I’ve got a ticket open about the issue that I had raised in chat and I’ve since added to it that Chat isn’t working and they’ve replied saying it’s because I’ve got an open ongoing ticket which is awaiting resolution. How does that make any sense? Also the responses to the issue I raised in the first place make no sense either.
Chat still not working. I've asked via a support ticket for it to be fixed, but this has been going on for 7 days now.
