I had sent about 15 to 20 messages in a s short amount of time and then my messages were muted. I don't send spam and none of these were spam. I was giving my etsy friends the link to a urstyle fashion set I had made which had one of their items in it. This is what a group of us do to promote our listings and they welcome them with open arms. My messages have been muted from April 19 to May 27 which leads me to think it's a technical problem.
I had another shop on etsy for 14 years, but had to leave due to health conditions. I finally feel well enough to return and open another shop and this had to happen. It's hard enough to start all over again, but to not be able to answer questions from prospective buyers which may have lead to sales if very troublesome. I know I can contact actual buyers thru their personal email, but there's no way to contact prospective buyers and answer their questions.
I have written to etsy several times and chatted many times and have received the same answer - etsy's top team will look into it and if you don't hear from them within 24 hours, contact us again. I have gone through this several times and am never contacted. Hearing that if I put in too many help tickets that would put me at the end of the list, I waited 15 days to see if my messages were unmuted, but they weren't.
I'm about ready to give up all hope of having my messages unmuted. This isn't the etsy I remember.
I read a few times in the forums that a kind man named Herr Moostache has helped others on etsy with this problem and I'm reaching out to him to help me.

You said; "I was giving my etsy friends the link to a urstyle fashion set I had made which had one of their items in it." That sounds like spam. It would be best to have interested parties provide you with their email addresses and give you permission to send messages. Do not message them through Etsy.
@MoonbeamsnBlossoms: As @TreeTreasuresCanada stated, technically your messages were spam. Whether you use Etsy's messaging system or your eMail, you MUST have permission to send non-transactional messages and eMails. Get a free account from someone like MailChimp and have people sign up for a newsletter where you can legally send them information.
I remember back when Etsy has treasuries, and the treasury makers would spam people with instructions to like and share. I have no idea what an urstyle fashion set is, but if it's something you share on social media, all you need to do is tag them in the post. Since the messages were promotional in nature, it does qualify as spam.
