My listing title is different when it is searched. When I open my individual listing, I can see:
When this is searched, all I see is the number 30.
I tried refreshing my browser and it is still the same, just the number 30! Is there something that I can do to change this?
There is a test where Etsy is cutting off the titles after the first comma or other punctuation. Remove punctuation and your title will show as it should.

Does Etsy have anything better to do then this? I don't understand! This is really messing with people's livelihoods. My business tanked as a result. And why would Etsy get rid of descriptions? Whose the great brain behind this nightmare? This is NOT helping us... it is HURTING our businesses. I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought!
Put the 30+ in a different place in the title.
You are in a test where Etsy is messing with the listing titles. They are truncating titles after the first punctuation (in this case the +). Not everyone sees this title in the search results. If you want to fix the title in the short term, remove the punctuation (or remove the space between the + and the P).
Replace the plus sign with the word plus if you must have it in your title or move somewhere else in the title.
Its something recent they started doing in shortening titles.
Wow, thank you for all your speedy replies! Well, I guess I'll have to edit all my listings now. I had a buyer in the past who said it was difficult to understand my listing because I needed commas, so I added commas. Now to take them all off.
What a crazy test. I refuse to change all my listing titles. If I need to retake photos and now change listing titles I will just move them slowly to another platform with less issues.
I agree with you & I am hoping to have my Shopify store open in time for the holidays. Etsy has gone way downhill.
It is crazy. I see a lot of listings now with just a number. When you open up their listing, there's a lengthy title. People are unaware of this.
@GrassShackDesigns I am seeing this test as well. And like you, see Titles such as "Boo", "10"', "Custom", and so forth. I realized the only Titles which were not truncated were those with zero punctuation. So I removed all of the commas from my Titles (I dislike doing that; it reads better with the commas).
Etsy tells us to separate phrases in the Title with commas. And we often tell other Sellers not to Title the beginnings the same, on listings which are similar. So we may flip some phrases so they don't start at the beginning of the Title, and won't read the same and compete with other Titles. Then for users in this test, you can't view the Title beyond the first comma anyway. It really doesn't make sense.
People keep saying that is "punctuation", but is it punctuation or is it any non alpha-numeric character because '+' is not a punctuation character. And is it always at the following space character that this happens? We can't duplicate this (obviously not in this test) but are concerned because so many of our listing start with a measurement, i.e. "1-1/2 Inch" and there is no easy fix for that.
I think it is special characters... I used commas and occasionally hyphens in my titles but removing them now slowly.
So my understanding is if I sell 1.5" ribbon or 2.5" ribbon, 36" tall ETSY has gone in and removed everything after the " mark? Why were we not notified? I have over 2000 listings that this affects
@MaDoorableCreations Yes, you are correct. I'm in the test and seeing Titles such as "10". That's it, nothing else.
Re: why were not notified; Etsy never notifies us in regards to tests. They used to have a page which showed current tests; then later, the effectiveness (or non-effectiveness) of a particular test. They did away with that page.
@MaDoorableCreations I'm not sure whether I'm in the test or not but in some of my searches for clip hoop earrings (my own listings) I could see just the first part of the title in the search results (clip hoop earrings) because it stopped at the comma. If you click on the listing from the search screen then it shows normally but this could impact sales. Your listings that have the inch mark up front would be truncated at that point... I'm starting to edit my own listings a few at a time to remove any punctuation.
I think this is crazy no one was notified, there’s a shop I shop at too and they have thousands of listings messed up. Spent the whole day changing mine I was having a sale and only got 3 small orders
I removed all my commas in the last few days, using quick edit mode is easier than opening every listing. I got pretty good at the eye focusing and delete coordination in the end.
Someone suggested replacing all commas with a period.
The ones that I've changed based on this info have gone back to showing the complete title on search pages.
So I still get some kind of punctuation, it's just a bit different.
Using other special characters (including periods) won't make it any better. Here's a helpful read.
Remove the + and write PLUS instead.
Etsy stock has dropped 14% in the past month & is now under $66. You'd think they would take the hint and quit messing with the things that made them successful in the first place.
