My Mryinteriors shop account was hacked and the hacker changed the bank details and connect to his/her bank account via Plaid. I changed my email and password however I can not change my bank details and I dont use Plaid, I use Etsy Payment and the bank account in the system is not mine. Etsy team unlinked the bank and unlinked the Plaid connection but this morning I saw that Plaid was connected again!!! but it still says "Pending Verification".
The Etsy team keeps telling me to add a bank account but I told them many many times that there is no option to add a bank account on the page!!! I sent them screenshots many times over the past 3 weeks and whenever I sent them the screenshot they just stop writing back to me. It is like saying "This is too much work, you are on your own" I have my money in my Mryinteriors shop account and I can't get it. I stopped the ads and told the customers not to buy anything from my Mryinteriors store cause I won't be able to receive my money.
I visit the Shop Manager > Finances > Payment but there is no option to add a new bank account!!! I was told that they transferred this matter to the dedicated them but I spoke with several different people from that team but whenever I sent the screenshot they just stopped writing back. It has been 3 weeks and I dont know what to do! I love Etsy but am genuinely disappointed by Etsy support team. I quit my job to sell full time on Etsy and I was doing pretty good but now I cant even get my money. I just dont understand why they just dont delete the Plaid connection and all the bank details so that I can add my correct bank details. Why!!!! and How can I solve this? somebody please help!!!
[Note from admin - Security is working on this]
I hope that Admins will notice your thread and help you.
There have been many shops coming to the Forum DAILY about being hacked.
@PlatypusDream - Yes the number seems never-ending. And what was at first shops that were never really opened & sitting idle has become shops that have 10's of thousands of sales & probably a tidy sum waiting to be deposited.
It seems sad that the replies to folks like the OP is to suggest placing the shop in vacation mode, change the deposit schedule to monthly or change the expiration date on any credit card on file to an expired date so deposits won't be made. How much access the real shop owner has can vary widely.
Etsy really needs to set up a team dedicated to this issue & have them on hand 24/7/365.
Is there any way that I can get Admins to notice my thread? Cause I have 2 years of work on my Mryinteriors shop and I don't want to see that shop collapse!
How are hackers getting into so many accounts in the first place if passwords are private?
i am not understanding the 3 week delay in fixing the issue.
these people need phone support and have those phone supporters logged into the account.
and then walk these sellers through the process.
step by step.
this other way of emailing back and forth is not working.
Yes! It’s also far too easy to hack an account. No critical info should be able to be changed without uploading an ID that matches the shop owner’s name as given at the time of registration. It’s ridiculous. I know married people change names but in general, Tom Smith should not be able to take over an account in the name of Mary Brown.
Security working on this one! Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate that, but why nobody gives information? Like, dont worry we are working on it but just need time, it may take a week or a month or even more but we will solve it for sure! This way I would know that someone actually working on it and I wouldnt make any changes to my shop and would still accept orders knowing that eventually Etsy will solve it. I am new to the community page and I see people here saying nobody from the support contacts them, also I googled and some say they couldn't get their money etc etc. This really makes me nervous, I just dont understand, as Etsy is not a corner shop, it is a big international company. They should inform people to calm them down. For instance, for the past 3 weeks I check my emails almost every 10 minutes, the first thing that I do when I wake up is to check my emails and my shop!
Scary to hear you have had an issue with this for 3 weeks. Etsy needs to take security a bit more serious.
What is up with so many accounts being hacked?
Instead of being hacked and waiting on Etsy, WHAT is a way for us to prevent being hacked in the first place? I change my password every 2-3 months. I hope that helps me?
@DonnaMarieAntiques setting up 2 factor authentication can help prevent hacking too. Just remember to print out the backup codes and keep them somewhere safe (not with the device) in case you don't receive the email/text.
@DonnaMarieAntiques - This from Etsy:
And you can add in a touch of me - be really skeptical about emails & any attachments. Always go to your shop manager to see if the request for 'whatever' is legit.
