Multiple colors 2 and pictures to match 2-I serched the forums and am more confused

I already searched the boards. Sorry if someone else can find an easy answer, but I am even more confused. What I want is to put up my regulallr photos 4, select two colors in variations, and list 2 items for each color. I can't make it work and I'm frustrated. I almost had it until I tried to put my second picture in for my variant and it came up with this error: 

Right now photos are linked to Primary color. These photos will be unlinked, and you’ll need to add new photos to Secondary color.

Should I just put 4 in variations and leave it at that with only the color word to show the option.

Not sure what you are asking as you have no variations in this listing.  Also, just to note, since the one photo shows one set of earrings longer than the other, that will confuse people.  You have a size stated, but which earring is that size and what is the other earring size?  Why would you have 4 variations?  You appear to only have two options.  Blue or green.  Primary colour and secondary colour refer to items with TWO colours; your earrings are ONE colour.  Make a variation called STYLE and type in description if that makes it easier.  But be sure to clarify the length because one appears almost one inch longer than the other.  Also, get rid of "soft to the touch" in the title; no one will search for "soft to the touch"; everything in the title should be a search key... like blue and green.

Wow, I don't know how that escaped me. One was longer that the other. I'm sure I've been making too many of these in my dreams too. Anyway, I want to give customers the two choices, but I can't figure out how. This is important because the next set of earrings have 4 sets of earrings with 3 colors. I never thoughtt this would be the hard part.

If I'm reading it correctly, it sounds like what you are trying to do is not something Etsy is capable of.

You can only link photos to 1 variation option.

If they are linked to the Primary colour variation, you can't link them to the secondary colour variation.

You can make your photos collages to help with this situation.

For example, you have red, blue and green as the first color variation.
Make one photo collage of all the reds (with the secondary colors in that same photo,) then one photo collage of all the blues, etc. Label the options there.
Then link the red photo collage as the variation photo.

Sorry, not easy to explain. But you can only have photo links to one variation, as others have said.

You might try setting up 2 variations: Length, and Color. Under length, put short and long. Under color, list your colors. 
That way the buyer selects a length and a color before they can check out.

Your title says the short length is blue, but the picture shows the short length is green.  You only have 42 listings, so I think you should make a separate listing for each color and let length be the only choice.  Less confusion and more listings.
