Hi all,
Within the past 24 hours, Ive had a customer place 10 separate orders for crochet chickens, each with their own shipping price. It's not uncommon for someone to place a second order shortly after the first and I'll send a quick message to see if they are okay with combining orders and refunding the excess shipping. 10 orders seems very excessive however and they have not responded to messages or email. Reddit suggested it could be a kid on a parents phone? I guess main question is, is this suspicious to anyone else or an inkling of a potential scam? Just seems very unusual to me to place 10 separate orders within 24 hours.
Are all 10 going to the same address?
Yes, all are going to the same address.
Since you just contacted them today, give them a few more days to respond. Buyers are not logged into Etsy as often as we sellers are. If you need to, you can push out the ship by date while you wait for a reply.
Yes, it would flag to me too. When in doubt, test it: Send them a message asking them if you can ship all 10 orders together and refund any shipping overage. Send the message via Etsy messages but also by email. Put off shipping until you get a confirmation.
If you get anything other than a clear reply like "Yes, that would be great", rethink the orders.
Adding, Google the address and make sure it looks legit. Not some vacant lot, or a business that is long closed.
I did send a message through Etsy last night, and through email tonight. No reply so far but more orders after the Etsy message. I also googled the address and it is a blurred house.
I sell supplies, so I'll often get one or two orders together. Maybe as many as 3. But 10? Yes, I'd definitely be following the suggestions provided and waiting. Seems odd.
