I didn’t get a Star Seller for my messaging response because I did not reply to another message in July from a customer which merely said “Received my order thanks it is really Beautiful”. Just wanted to know what exactly I need to message, perhaps :”Thank you for your thank you”. Does seem a touch pedantic.

Star Seller criteria is very clear. You must reply to all messages or mark as spam. I would have replied "glad you like it".

Me too. However, I respond to all messages within hours of receiving them.
@Former_Member: "Does seem a touch pedantic." Semantics is important here - the Star Seller metric is NOT all new messages but only the first message of all new incoming threads.
I had the same issue on 2 messages in July. One was customer stating thank you for the help and the other was me quickly canceling an order for a customer right after they ordered. I did respond with action on that one. Not ok to lose star seller with great customer sevice.
