Messaging Has been Disabled

Hi! So, I've been using Etsy for a few weeks now. I've been doing everything right, and then out of nowhere I get my messaging disabled. I've been trying to contact Etsy support for 5 days now. I have not received anything back. In fact, when I check my old requests, it says, "This request is complete. If you need further help, create a new request." I'm at a loss for what to do, I have orders coming in a really no way to contact my customers. I can assure you that I have not broken any policy with messaging. I wasn't given a reason. What should I do? What can I do?

You can contact existing customers by using their email address with the order.

 

Etsy will suspend your messaging privileges if you violating their policies. For example, messaging POTENTIAL customers with coupon offers, asking for their email address or trying to take the sale off of Etsy (Fee Avoidance).

With Etsy's "Messages", you have the ability to communicate directly with your buyers or other Etsy members. Messages are a great way for buyers to ask you questions about an item or an order.

Messages may not be used for the following activities:

  1. Sending unsolicited advertising or promotions, requests for donations or spam;
  2. Harassing or abusing another member or violating our Anti-Discrimination Policy;
  3. Contacting someone after they have explicitly asked you not to;  
  4. Interfering with a transaction or the business of another member;
  5. Exchanging personal contact, financial or other information for the purposes of evading the checkout process on Etsy, including phone number, address, email, social media handles, external URLs, instructions for money transfer, etc.

Yeah, I understand the policies. But I haven't done any of that. So it makes no sense. But thank you for your response!

Anytime you message someone who is not an immediately current customer, you risk getting flagged for spam.
