Messages

My Etsy star seller says I missed a message, however I have auto reply on and it has responded to all messages and then I follow up on them.

Auto replies are only good for I think it is 7 days, then you have to set them up again.

Download a CSV for your messages and see which one they think you missed.

@HanasHoneybees: "My Etsy star seller says I missed a message ..." Have you checked the applicable CSV file available on your Star Seller page (previous period for January Star)? When you look at the file remember that that the dates / times are in UTC (not your time zone), only the first message of a new incoming thread is included (all that counts for Star Seller), and usually a new incoming thread is not included until after the 24 hour reply window has passed regardless of when you replied. Star Seller stats (and the CSV file) seem to be updated only once per day so there may be an additional day's delay. There is also a link to the actual message thread so you can verify if the data is correct or not. Keep in mind that the Star Seller metric is NOT all new messages but only the first message of all new incoming threads.

There are 3 types of Auto Reply on Etsy.

  • Vacation mode away message, which automatically sends an Autoreply to any new messages you receive while you are away.  For this one, you set the dates you will be out of contact and messages are only sent to people messaging you with enquiries between those dates.
  • Opening hours autoreply, which allows you to set your business hours and sends an autoreply to any new messages received outside of those hours.  This one is great for people who choose not to work weekends etc. and stays on until you remove it.
  • Convenience autoreply, which you can set to send a "thank you for your enquiry, I will get back to you shortly" or similar.  This one can only be set for a maximum of 5 days, (to give you time to catch up if you have an influx of orders and need to catch up).  You need to renew it regularly.

Is it possible you used the last one, but missed the bit in the instructions about needing to renew it every five days?
