Messages from buyers disappeared

I have had repeat customers say they cannot message me through Etsy. I have also just recently had a conversation with w new customer and then the entire message thread disappeared. What is going on?

Hello, I thought this was only happening to me. I've received message notifications, I check the chats, and they aren't there. I've checked Spam as well and they're not there either. I don't know what could be causing this. It's happened a couple of times so far

A lot of times when this happens it is from a scammer and Etsy catches and deletes the message in order to protect you. The entire account is probably gone.
