My shop has been a star seller consistently for over a year. This last month I noticed that even when I answered messages instantly they were not being registered as answered and I was still seeing the prompt to answer them … but I already had, sometimes an entire conversation has taken place but still the prompt was there.
now I am no longer a star seller because Etsy say I didn’t answer messages. The evidence and time stamps are right there Etsy….
this is unfair and my business will now suffer because of your technical issues.

The message is supposed to go away after a few days, but if it is not registering the reply in stats then there is still an issue going on.
Take a screenshot of your first reply to the message and send it to Etsy via live chat (it should show the time)
@MillieandtheWolf: Have you confirmed which new message thread Etsy thinks was unanswered / answered late with the applicable CSV file from your Star Seller page (previous period for April Star)?
"PLEASE RESPOND" Just so you know, even if Etsy Support or the Help Pages sent you here this is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).
So many mess ups! Three messages and I answered all immediately. Still, I have a message that It is my first message. Constant battle with the Star Status thing. Not happy. Several Etsy suggestions that I am receiving "spam" messages, were not spam. They were from reliable persons.
I am having the same technical problem and was coming here to alert Etsy to the issue. My last three messages that I answered promptly are still showing the "New Request" or "First Message from a potential buyer" message. I downloaded the csv files rom the star seller area and the record of messages stops on the 13th (not sure if that's typical as I do not download it typically). I hope this glitch isn't going to carry over into issues with September's Star Seller program
This has been going on for me for over a week, I have talked to etsy help twice.. last night they said they would advise the tech people..have sent screen shots etc..there are other posts about this.. and I started one of them.. lol.
Yup--I had it happen for the first time today. I think the buyer and I now have a total of 6 messages sent back and forth (to get measurements) and it still said I have to respond. Weird.
I've had some glitches in the star seller system. They usually get fixed within a day or two
I had this problem with a message yesterday after lengthy responses it still has the blue banner saying response needed.
I do hope this gets sorted as it will affect a lot of star seller status!!!
Y'all need to post a new thread in the Technical glitches section of the Forum so the Admins can actually see your complaints.

A little trick - any message you don’t answer, but mark as spam won’t count against you. I understand that you answered the messages, but if Etsy is glitchy and doesn’t mark them as answered, then I would put them in the spam folder. This even usually works belatedly, though there’s probably a time limit.
It wouldn’t hurt to mark them as spam now, and it might help.
